Question GSC S1 cams

So I have decide to get S1 setup for my evo8. Just wanting to know if anyone has had problems with S1 cam setup or if it made reliability go to ****? I was thinking of not using APR head studs?

Honestly u dont need to have any kind of supporting mods with the GSC or the HKS 272's. Now if you go with GSC S2's then u might need it. I have HKS 272's and i love it. Didnt even need to upgrade the valve train. Matter of fact i have a brand new set of head studs (unopened/still factory sealed with the reciept).

If your interested shoot me a PM.

But again u dont need them.

Unless you have the time/$ to put head studs in correctly and plan on running high boost (above 22)..I wouldn't worry about replacing them.

+1 I've been corrected on this before. I thought they were a must have item, but many high boost meth guys do fine with stock ones.

They are excellent midrange power cams.

+2, I've been correct by Sean Ivey about the headstuds too, he said you don't need them for cams. As far as running 22psi goes, the stock ones will do the job just fine. Most people change the headstuds when they upgrade their cams, but again you don't need them.

This is the truth.

Your bottom end will give before the Evo stocker head studs will. This was a problem with the DSM not the Evo. Hey if it makes you feel better do them but, the correct way to install is to take the head off. Good Luck.

GSC S1 are great low-end midrange cams with decent top end. You will enjoy them. Keep the stock headstuds though, no need to jump on that bandwagon.

I think the gsc s1's are the best all around cam out there.

awesome drivabilty / city driving characteristics & offer great linear power throughout the rev range.

oem head bolts are fine too.
