Need input on cams for a 2.3L w/ a 62mm turbo.

I have the money now to purchase whatever cams I want and need some info on what would work well all round. The R2 cams were my 1st pick but swapping springs again at this point isn't going to happen. The S3s have as much lift as I believe the valvetrain handle but not sure how they will work with my setup due to the limited rev range. Other considerations are Tomei 270 & 280s.

Save your money and do the springs and retainers when you do cams. Or you can run some S1's.

I already have a set of Manley springs and retainers installed, spending another $350 for GSC beehives just to use the R2s is out of the question.

S2s are a good option.

Have you had any experience with Tomei 270s before? These were my 1st option for over a year until I thought of going bigger and know I can get a set for at least $95 cheaper than S2s.

The $95 you save isnt worth it since they are basically a less cool S1.

Tomei 270-
10.7mm intake / 10.2mm exhaust
270/270 advertised
105/115 lobe centers, 110* centerline

GSC S1
11mm / 10.5mm
268/268
107/113 lobe centers, 110* centerline (better split though on the lobe center)

GSC S2

11.2mm / 11mm
274/274
107/113

I cant find the duration at 1mm for the Tomei but I would hard pressed to believe its more than the S1 and likely less. It is definitely less than the S2.

I'm looking at the Tomei Procams, not the Poncams.

270/270
11.5mm / 11.5mm
110* / 115*

Those are solid lifter and not hydraulic from what I remember. That would be additional over the price of the cams so all of the sudden not as good a price.
