It seems as though this might not be the case, with the AIT's he has been seeing. The only possibly way to bring AIT's below ambient is to do something such as this. The lower the AIT's the more power possible.

Congrats Al that is amazing! Get the car off the dyno and lets see some killer ET's!

Are you planning on coming to the Buschur Racing 4 cylinder Shootout? I can't wait to see the car run.

Congrats once again!

I wouldn't say its overkill at all, i'm using an air-water setup for better consistency and lower IATs (only I will be using 1 core instead of 6 lol and). I was just saying that Al is making some really good numbers for his setup compared to everyone else out there with similar setups.

well does the added power compensate for the added weight?

Al's setup seems more practical than Paul's. Paul's is running a bigger turbo, and not using a full exhaust also using the water to air intercooler. Both cars have very nice setups though. But Al's is the better IMO since you could actually take it out on the street and drive around without filling an intercooler with water or attracing a lot of attention because of running without an exhaust. BUT if your just looking to break a record Pauls car may be better right now for that. ya never know I guess we'll see

I agree, Al's setup is more practical. As for the air to water adding more weight than its worth, this is not always the case. All you need is a 5 gallon water storage tank w/ an intank pump mounted as close and level to the intercooler as possible, and make a header that allows the turbo to sit in the middle/upper driver side engine bay. And if you really want to add a heat exchanger so you could drive it anywhere, then at the track pull off the heat exchanger to take out that unnecessary weight.

With air-water intercooler cores being much more efficient in dissipating heat, you can use a much more compact core than you would need with an air-air core. Not to mention if you set everything up correctly you will have less intercooler piping, clamps, and couplers. So really air-water is a great idea, only if you do it right though.

Enough of my rant.

Al im trying to remember but don't you have a different wheel in that 42r? I could be wrong.

Guys you got to give Al some good credit here he has some true dedication to hit his goals which is hard to come byKeep it up Al!

Hey we where driving around on the streets the other day also Good ole country back roads. My intercooler can be ran with just water and not over heat just fine. All our cores are just for experimenting. We are reducing the core #s.
Hey guys this thread is about Als new #s we should keep it about Al
