I would advise you to step up to a 50trim atleast. I have personal 1st hand experience with stock frame turbos and 2.3L motors.

50trim is much better on the 2.3L. I would just build a 2L if you were dead set on a green..

I only paid like 1500 for my RNR 50trim with a PTE5031 its non bb with .63 back housing. And will make a easy 10-12psi by 3000 rpms in 3rd on my 2.3L stock head/ gsc 280's @ 0,0 . a 50trim is a much better turbo for the stroker. My car will make 10psi by 23-2400 in 4th also..

heres a vid.. nearly no lag

Keep in mind the RNR mani is short runner and one of the best spooling manifolds i've seen. The BR cast kit will out spool the RNR though.. I'm unsure about the ETS short runner. RNR kits aren't bad just the company was.
For what I want to do with the car, a 50 trim kit is a waste of money. If I ever go bigger turbo it will be a 35r at a minimum.

I guess my stock turbo won't be stock for long.

2.3 + HTA 20G? Damn... could be 500tq! Probably see nearly full spool at 2500-3000rpm! That will be a fun street setup for sure... can't wait to see results.

That garage looks like a combination of an IT administrator and car guy.

I'm pulling the parts together for almost the same exact thing. I too I'm wondering if the green really matches a 2.3L or if you need to do a GT30 based turbo.

I'm actually an IT Security instructor in the Navy, own my own computer repair business and I tune evo's and Sti's at the local shop. I believe my garage reflects my interests well.

Here is a 9 that was tuned in CA on 91 oct in 100* weather with similar mods to your build. The car looks stock under the hood.

Man, That 2.3 is going to outflow that green.

I'll bet you 100$ you dont trap more than 122 with that green and the 2.3

IT will make tons of tq but power is going to fall off hard on bigend. You might even start to taper around 4500rpms. You will run into problems getting it to hold boost with the 2.3L motor. Plus the car isn't going to want to take much timing i dont know why but my car took a lot more timing when i upgraded.

I picked my kit up for 200less than a green. Prolly 4-500 less then a hta green. And i'd make a bet with you my car will trap more than yours. You might spool a lil better but hey when boost comes on so early it really doesn't matter.

I'm trying to help you not ******* your setup. Obviously you haven't paid for the green yet. If you want that kindof spool/power get the BR Cast 50trim kit man. It'll make more power on that stroker and be a much better combo I'd say at redline could even be worth 50+whp. For about a grand more. And you'll have the option to upgrade later. The cast kits spool great.

Your not going to like the 2.3 and green combo unless that HTA is gonna be something crazy for it. I don't know much about turbos so i don't know how the ligher wheel will affect taper with the 2.3L.

Just try to find a fast 2.3L green'd car man.

I would have to agree. There is just not enough airflow to support that displacement.

Considering that all I do is autox, I don't think it will bother me too much. All I wanted was something that had a large amount of torque down low. 1/4 mile times and trap speeds mean nothing to me. I understand you and Scott are giving sound advice, but it doesn't fit with what I want to do with the carl.

Good point with the torque being down low. I can appreciate a car that spools faster and loses a little (lot) on the top end. In a daily driver or a decent track car/street car you spend less than 5% of your time at the top 15% of your RPM band. Nice car. Nice build and kudos to you for building what makes YOU happy and then having the ***** to invite the flaming and posting dyno graphs! You are my hero for the morning!

are you in a IX?
I really dont know what your talking about.

To the OP: Man, I regret in so many ways not building a 2L. My 2.3 Is sooo damn finicy when it comes to timing, the areas your looking at during autocross to lug the car around like that prolly gonna see some 1* numbers to be safe.

I guess its all in relation to piston design. I have wisecos.
