UPDATE:
Everything is installed and ready to go. I tried to start it yesterday, but it was an epic failure. Apparently I put the crank angle sensor in upside down. I was't completely sure until I looked through the build pictures and verified it. Now I have to take all that crap back off to flip the sensor.
More pics to come when I get home.

UPDATE:
After flipping the crank angle sensor around, the car started right up and idled great...until coolant started leaking out of the water pump shaft seals. I should have put in a new water pump when I did the build, but hindsight is 20/20. Water pumps are fairly east to replace, though, so I'm not stressing about it.
As soon as I am completely done under the hood, it'll be rolling into the paint booth for a new coat.

UPDATE:
This stupid car is fighting me every step of the way. After replacing the leaky water pump, I had issues with intake cam timing which led me to pull the head just to make sure the valves were OK. Head is back on, BUT I got angry today and beat the crap out of my intake cam gear, breaking off a section of teeth. New MIVEC cam gear is on order and will be here to the tune of $285.
Also, I picked up a 75mm throttle body and a intake manifold for a really good deal. Today, the IM came back from being cleaned and powder coated to match the valve cover.

Honestly, I'm not 100% positive. I've looked at many pictures of various SMIM's, including the E-bay ones. It's similar to the Ku Engineering IM, but it's slightly different. I'll be porting the stick IM, just in case this one sucks donkey ***. I'm willing to try anything at least once.
New cam gear will be here tomorrow, so hopefully the car will be running again in a couple of days.

You must be real excited to be this close. Well if, as many believe, you will be dissatisfied with the top end, you can easily just swap the Green for a Red Later. either way I think the results should be fun and imoressive from the dyno graphs I have seen from other similar setups.

UPDATE:
Car is now runnning with no oil or water leaks. Just a few minor things to take care of, then it'll spend the next couple of weeks in the paint booth. Should be totally complete by the end of August.

I'm just trying to get one more project out of the body shop and Matt's car will be due up for a little finessing, and the long awaited flat Porsche paint job. If there is any interest in these pics, I'll keep them rolling!
No problem! I'm sure the paint progress pics will be no where nearly as exciting as watching the powerplant go together, but just to keep interest in the project I will try to provide much of the progress pictures with some explanation of what I'm doing besides breathing paint fumes!! The rather ambitious goal is to have it painted for our Eastern CT Show at Dodd Stadium on the 21st of September, along with another truck that I've been doing a partial restoration on. Coffee Monster's, here I come.....

But when I saw that words "crank" and "epic failure" together in the email, I was expecting worse
