I was told by a pretty popular vendor on here that HTA turbos use Borg Warner compressor wheels which are not clipped but have a unique design and are lighter than the ones used in non-HTA turbos. Can anyone confirm?

Only FP would be able to confirm this, and why would they?

And who was that vendor?

They don't have a clue, there isn't anything to do with B-W parts or designs in the HTA, it is an independent, proprietary new aero from us.

This is exactly the reason we don't care to participate in forum discussions, its a waste of time- once some misinformed person says something is true, it becomes true. Look at the way this thread got ruined. Why waste the time? Got better things to do like moving forward.

Maybe he is referring to the "extended tip like" way the comp. wheels look....just an idea, I am not sure what shop told him that....

This "waste of time" is where the majority of your EVO customers heard about you in the first place , or got advice on using YOUR products. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you guys actually put some info up instead of a giant tease several weeks ago with no real info other then a post made to get people riled up, these posts would'nt head this direction. Don't take this as a knock, I'm excited about this possibly larger green, and of course the Red if/when it happens. But if you don't want these types of rumors to get out of control, either don't post anything at all about products you don't have the info people here are going to want (pics, dyno comparisons, flow charts.....) or accept the fact that rumors will fly about extremely highly anticipated products (the fact that these products ARE so in demand is a compliment of this community to FP ) when tid bits are released and not backed up.

Never heard of GrocMax. I have heard of Buschur, AMS, ETS, CBRD, etc. One those guys told me this. And I never said it was true. I just said this is what I heard and can anybody else confirm this? Somebody in one of the posts here said the wheels were clipped and I said I heard they were NOT clipped but a whole new design from BW. If this is not true, please confirm.

The only one who is clipping wheels is CBRD. There are no past, current, or soon-to-be-released FP designs (at least for the Evo) that use clipped wheels.

GroxMax is a long term FP employee, who has forgotten more about DSMs, EVOs, and their turbo and engine systems than most other "experts" ever knew. If you find the rare post from him, read it over and over. It always has information that will be useful to you.

Sorry CO VR4, but his post just a few above yours sounds like a whinny petulant child, though that's not uncommon on EVOm. I guess it at least contains a bit of information in that he denies they use the BW ETT compressor.

Okay so I got some great info from FP earlier. I forgot the tech's name...but he's the dude with a spanish-ish accent; very helpful. He said the new HTA green turbo will fall in the middle of an evo 9 turbo and the current green performance wise but improved spool. They will still offer the current green. He said they are also working on another turbo that is a little bigger and they may call it a Red and should be out in a couple months depending on test results. Just delivering what I was told; hopefully this info sticks

I know that. I never said the wheel was clipped. Somebody else did and I was saying it is not clipped.

And as for the HTA Green, well in light of this new info, perhaps the Red is worth waiting for. I really wish FP wouldnt have even started this thread until more info was available. It has become such a tease.

Rumor: HTA EVOGREEN discontinued?

FP,

I stopped by my local shop here in LA to inquire about installing a HTA EVOGREEN. And to my surprise, I was told that you were discontinuing the HTA version. The shop stated that the performance of the HTA wasn't producing the expected performance gains the community expected. So, you are revamping your line to go back to the original FP GREEN. Also, they mentioned that FP was designing a "bigger" version of the GREEN to be released in the next few months.

Would you please confirm or deny? If you are planning to discontinue the HTA, when can I expect to receive the FP after it is ordered?

Thanks,

Jay

^^^ The last few posts are great examples of the problems in relying on what you hear from "other people" about a product.

It seems reasonable to inquire directly from the company making the product, rather than ask other people or go back and forth on a forum.

I called. I know what they told me. If you have a phone, you can also be "in the know".
