Thanks everyone for all the useful info and support. Best of luck with your builds. I agree 480whp is the max id feel comftorable with on stock internals and then you have the axles to worry about as well. Id like to run low 11's on pump and stock block so I believe the HTA will be the way to go...

What are you basing this on? Specifically, what experience or data have you used to formulate this statement?

i'd say not. because with even a stock turbo running 26-28 lbs it gets risky running stock head studs. and the 35r running at 25 lbs is a lot more air than 26-28 lbs on the stock turbo

Interesting well maybe I'll be a victim of this 500whp stock block issue. My kit will be ordered once I get off of night crew in about 4wks and I'm going HTA35R/GSC S2 cams and pushing just over 500 to the wheels. We'll see how long she holds, it's not like a don't plan on building the motor anyway.

here are my current mods...keep in mind I made 500awhp before the ported intake and throtte body with 880cc injectors + kenne bell boost a pump (maxed out 110% IDC)

If you're going over 500awhp 1000cc and a twin pump are necessary

BR HTA 35R 5 bolt .63 @ 30psi on 93 octane
HKS 280 cams
PTE 1000cc injectors (necessary for over 500awhp)
BR twin walbro fuel pumps (necessary for over 500awhp)
BR 3" tbe, test pipe, bullet muffler
BR 3" intake pipe + Mas adapter
BR UICP
BR Mini Battery
BR Race FMIC
ARP head studs
PPI ported stock intake manifold
PPI 65MM throttle body
Exedy Twin Disc HD clutch
My tuning www.mellontuning.com

coming soon:
BR 2.0 shortblock
BR BF272 cams
Springs/Retainers
C16 tune

latest DLL, it was in the 535 awhp area when it was 30* outside but it's more like 80* outside now.

The Street Tuned Evo has had over 500whp on stock motor for 2 full seasons of racing here, though not on an HTA 35R. Ran a slowboy .63 35R kit with HAFE manifold; Stock motor with studs and cams. Over 40,000 miles on the motor and its holding up great. At the last track day of the season here, Emery got it to go 10.68@134.5 !

500whp is very doable as long as you have all the parts to compliment the turbo.

Cheers!
