gt3076r vs Evogreen

Hi all

I've got a 2005 Evo IX with an HKS TBE, test pipe, Apexi air filter, Walbro fuel pump, and EcuTek reflash. The car is producing 320whp on pump gas (98 RON) at 22psi.

I'm going to upgrade the turbo to either an Evogreen or the gt3076r. At the same time, I'm going to add 720cc injectors, Kelford 272 cams, and an EBoost 2 EBC (and probably increase the boost to about 24 psi).

The car is only used for track and street driving, i.e. no 1/4 mile runs. The car will only be run on 98 RON (i.e. no meth or race gas).

The Green and the 3076r obviously have different strengths and weaknesses (e.g. the green will have better bottom end response while the 3076r will have slower spool up but better top end). The 3076 is a lot more $$$.

What I'm keen on your opinions on is the power gain I'll get from each turbo. I'm aiming for 400whp. ROUGHLY what whp would the car produce with the Evogreen (and mods above) versus the 3076r (with the mods above), both at 23-24 psi and 98 RON?

Thanks

Mark.

400 are very possible with the evo green + supporting mods on pump gas..
flow rates are close (52 vs 49 for the green) which means not much power gains to be expected from the 3076.
visit fp website, the hta 3076 made 483 bhp vs 450 for the green (both race gas), but the green spool is way better... u could also wait for the hta green which will have better spool than the current green and flows better.. this one would be an HTA 3076 killer i guess...

I read that the HTA Green is no different then the old green, same power same spool Buschur tested the HTA Green, and FP them self said that if you have the current green keep it.

I say go big HTA35R.

that was the the 1st prototype hta green, now they're sending another upgraded one

of course the hta 35 is in another league, but it always depends on what you want...

The green will kick in sooner & help you rotate the car out of the corner.... the 3076r will kick in later but help you scoot down the straights quicker...

green sounds perfect for what you are looking for.

im also going threw this same debate right now. However im considering a ams 50 trim kit so i can later upgrade to 35r when i build the motor. This is such a hard decision.

i say get a few more bolt ons done, then worry about what turbo your gonna want....
your gonna need more then what you have right now to support a bigger turbo. like intercooler and piping and few other things. i say get all that stuff out of the way first

^^^ +1 the Green @ 24lbs on pump gas + all of the mods you have listed above will still be somewhat tough to get to 400whp. You may want to consider getting ported stock exhaust manifold and O2 housing and maybe even FMIC in addition to the Green for your goals. In the end, you will need a good custom tune to get you there...

A gt3076r with your above setup will hit a little over 400whp (peak) on pump gas, but will have less power under the curve (than the Green) -- so it will be slightly better at the drag strip at higher rpm's, but will be much more laggy on the street and not as fun to drive.

On the street, with similarly modded evo's on PUMP gas boost levels - a Green will pull on a gt3076r from like 20-100, but the 3076 will (probably) SLOWLY walk it at higher speeds...

Conclusion: no real point in getting the more expensive gt3076r if you're not running meth/race gas/high boost...

To tell you the truth my friend, it all depends on the driver, you can break boost on a large turbo and have a good launch

The evo FP green is a 47lb/min turbo.

well some say 47 and others 49, but in any case at fp website dynosheet one made 483 and the other 450 (which makes a 5lb/min diff at this stage improbable), compared to a 500+ rpm sooner spool for the fp green... imho the 3076 doesn't make up for the driveability it sacrifices...

anyway, high hopes on the hta green

FP says 47, but every wheel can flow more than rated under certain conditions. Also, isn't the 3076 a 54 lb/ min wheel?

For the OP, the only reasons I would get the 3076 over the Green are you're not sure about your ultimate power goals, it's easier to upgrade a 3076 to something bigger, or you're going to run high boost. The Green is much cheaper and if it meets your power needs, no reason to look anywhere else.
