NP..... Hey Mellon, speaking of which you are also one of the people I missed Where you hiding or something?
lol apparently I had on camouflage or something nah, I just got to the action on race day and by then everyone was busy doing their thing preparing or focusing on watching the races so I really didn't make an effort to bug everyone but I'm kind of regretting that now. Next year I'll get there much earlier so I have time to bs with everyone. And I'm gong to bring my car...what the hell was I thinking, it was so painful to spectate and not be out there rippin it up! my wife would have gone bonkers though riding 11 hours with me but maybe the exhaust would have drowned her out hahaha I kid! I'll have to see about renting a truck/trailer for next year because lord knows I'll never buy one.

I was also surprised he didn't drop the tree. My guess is that they know that people drove from all over the country and wanted to see a race instead of a bye run. Being an auto guy myself, I knew he was on the converter and was trying everything I could to get it relit.

I typically courtesy stage, even on street nights where there is no competition. In this case they were trying to round-robin Q16 which left me with a dead battery (16volt, no alternator) so I was trying to do everything as quickly as possible! I wanted to have a good race in the final round of the fastest class in the event as much as everyone else that was there watching. You can see in the video that I did wait in prestage for a few seconds, and he didn't move.

Next year, if the track finds a way to give us the standard 1 hour turn around time, I'll give the courtesy stage, and a free reach around thrown in just to make sure everyone is happy.

Now that i've had some time to catch up on sleep and relax.

Thanks again Buschur camp for giving us/me the best event. This is by far the largest and best Event I've been to in my life.

Next year I'm not trailering my Evo up. I would much rather pay a transportor to bring it up and just fly in a plane. That ride is a ***** pulling a car.

Great to meet everybody and too many damn names to remember.

The DF zone was the highlight of my trip. It was an HONOR being in such company and thank you Dave for inviting me.

Many drag strip organizers don't want to allocate valuable weekend dates to import events due to poor attendance and revenus. The DSM Shootout is a very rare exception to the trend in our sport of Import Racing.

This is very true Al. While professional level racing is fun and I enjoy the competition the grassroots based racing is ALOT more fun for everyone involved, is a great place to meet friends & people, and also a great learning opportunity to see what others are doing.

This being my 2nd time going the 10-11 drive from CT seemed even shorter this time.

Also autocross would be awesome, my buddy and I were talking about that when we left, theres so much room.
an autocross would be awesome, and it would definitely help attract a different class of evo owner

Thats funny! I hate it that no matter what happens someone always *****es about something. Human nature I guess.

For myself, on Tuesday evening I was stuck with no heads and the prospect of missing my first DSM Shootout in 6 years since the Evo class started

A call in to Master Buschur for some last minute help secured me a stock head and a chance to make the show

A whole day spend thrashing to get the car ready to race and I was back in business, of course unable to do any significant testing or tuning with the new head

My goal was to simply come out, attend the race and have fun running my car down the track.

I used to get all hung up in trying to win the event and spent a lot of mental energy on that. I did good reaching 4 finals of the EE class and winning once. However, once I got that out of my system, I realized that the event is about much mor than the race and my # 1 goal is just to be there and enjoy myself and get a chance to drive my car down that track.

I was happy as hell that my Evo was the ONLY one in Q16 aside from the Buschur Black Evo to run strong all day and finished the race in one piece. Not to mention that fac`t that I set new ET and MPH bests with my small Gt37 turbo going 153 mph - (nearly 154) which is moving for a car with 3200 lbs and a tiny Gt37.

It was such a great day and such a amazingly well run event, I was just happy to be there and have a blast.

Its a shame that no matter how good it is there is always someone picking on some small issue to complain about.

Frankly, if the track did give the other guy in the final a chance to re-start his car that is to thier credit as I certainly would have rarther seen a final race than a guy winning becuase the other car did not have enough time to charge his battery.

Its impossible to please everyone, but this event has pleased nearly everyone.

AL

So who was the *** hat that showed up in the Firebird and proceeded to smoke up the whole parking lot?
