here is a little video my man jesse put together of his car. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/d...-08_177992.htm
edit. seriously how come hardly anyone but buschur actualy pre stages. people that jump right into full stage should be faulted. and why in the world would little buddy working the tree just wait for a broken car to start back up while the other racer sits there and burns the tranny down.

As for why I double staged - first there is no courtesy staging rule in effect at this event and no tech rules what so ever. More importantly, given that I was racing an auto trans car I just wanted to get in the beams as I had no idea what kind of crazy trans break bumping into the beam procedure that I would encounter. I am game for any kind of race but racing a 5 speed synchro box against an auto is hardly a walk in the park. I don't understand why you are complaining if you won ?

I just finished editing my footage of the quick 16 qualifying...for some reason the camera wasn't liking the start of each race so it's a little choppy but it clears up about mid track...funky but it's all I have to work with and I'm sorry.
keep an eye on that thread as I'll add quick 16 eliminations tomorrow night and other clips from test n tune and other classes with pics ultimately...much much more to come!

your right there is no rule. but it is what its called. courtesy stage. not complaining just the first time it has been a issue at a event where there is mostly pro's at. maybe i worded it wrong or you took it wrong. the car has no trans brake. just a converter and spray to leave. car was turned down a healthy amount to assure it stayed together this weekend. and it did well with only 2 miles on the motor going into it. nothing taken away and the staging didnt effect much. i guess my only complaint was the fact the rwd car died while jesse was sitting on stall burning up the trans and the guy working the tree wouldnt hit the button.
ok, im a little confused and I wasnt even in any of it since I broke on the second pass of the day. But how can you say most of the people there were pro's? Out of the guys I was with about the only one I know with their NHRA licensce is Dan Buschur. The rest of us just enjoy racing. And its alot easier for your car to get on the tree and ready than it is for us to stage and then get on the 2 step on the pro tree. I know it was eating my lunch.

there's no rule so there's really no argument but there is an unwritten gentlemens agreement amongst most racers to pre stage, then allow your competitor to pre stage and then it's fair game after that which can result in a long dual to see who will stage first and have to camp out on the limiter forever while the other guy creeps up.
it's racing folks, that's just part of the game.

by pro's i mean big competitors in the 4cylinder import classes. alot of fast cars there. yeah no titan or any of the old nopi competitors. but you get what im saying. thats not your normal weekend event for a local import class. if it is then i need to move to your town.
and mellon, thank you. i was just suprised to see as many people do it. i guess down here in ky its just rule of thumb. and all the other events we went to, no written rule, correct.

Ok, I just had a different view on what you meant by pros. I also understand where you are coming from on the staging as I usually try and wait for the other guy, but it seems as though many are getting away from the prestage as Im usually also the last at the tree. Oh well, it is what it is.
I finally got home, showered and just sat down to relax. Man.... what a weekend.... a GREAT weekend. I must say in the 5 years ive worked for David this was the most pleasureful shootout ive had.
First I would like to give a BIG thank you to everyone for coming out, supporting the event, hanging out, etc... THANK YOU!
The weekend overall was GREAT. We were very busy at the shop yesterday as well as busy at the track today but it wasnt the type of hectic, stressed out kind busy. It was very fun to be able to meet alot of people face to face as well as just be able to hangout and BS.
I met alot of new people this year. Shared alot of laughs & had some good conversation.
LiL Rico you're my boy! Im glad I finally had the chance to meet you in person.
P.S.-Dont lock anymore keys in cars.
Jestr... It was good meeting you and having the chance to hangout. You have to love the ricers! lol Good times. Thanks again for the shirt!
Mike from AWD.... I have to say that you and your crew are a GREAT, standup group of guys and we're proud to have you as a representative of Buschur Racing! Hey Chris are you still working on that? LOL jk Nothin but love buddy!
Oscar (raceman)... good job at the controls of the Evo X & congrats on your win. Also good job taking Phil's car down the track. I know he was thrilled to see what its capable of. You're a cool dude! Im glad I had the chance to meet you.
Victor from BVP... it was a pleasure meeting you and your guys as well as Rollo. You're a good group of guys! Im glad you're happy with the BR products that you run on X and also that you guys made the trip all the way up here. Congrats on the win to you as well sir!
Then..... there are my "old" friends. Its a one time.... maybe twice a year thing when I see some of these guys. Big Al, Tom & Tony Powell, 2.3 Evo 8, Indy Evo, Kevin Lawson, 8thwonder, David Lowe, Curt Brown, Dave Bruszewski and I cant forget my homeboys Caleb from CBRD, VWJeff, Spin2GST, SloRice, Matt Smith & crew, DragNRacing and EvoLunchbox. Its always fun!
I know I forgot plenty of names of people that I met but I think I talked to 500 different people this weekend and on top of just being beat & tired. Its nothing personal.
Also congrats to Dan Buschur for driving the heck out of our black drag car to a 8.96 with the 37R on the first pass of the day.
I would have to guess that this was the biggest shootout we've had to date. Thanks again for everyone who came out.We truly appreciate all of your support!

Im going to bed now. Take care!

The Q16 class brings together a vastly disparate grouping of cars which really should not be lumped together. All they have in common is that they all are 4g63 engined. There are RWD, FWD, full body, gutted, alcohol, gas, auto trans - what ever. In that kind of field, you have to get to the bulbs quickly with a manual trans clutch when facing an auto trans.
Its an amature event and not many pro racers if any.
Courtesy staging rule is ONLY IN affect when the track or sanctioning body specifies it. In this case there is no mention of it in the hand out at the event.
For example at the now defunct NHRA Import race events, they would hold a driver's meeting and usually specify that courtesy staging was in effect for PRO classes.
I dont think the event needs courtesy staging rules - just my opinion.

Conversely when I am racing a slower car, I try and make sure I stay on my game plan and try to ignore what ever the other guy does.
Unless a courtesy stage rule is specified, anything goes.
am i speaking in a different language. like 5 post ago i said the hell with the staging games. my only complaint was the guy working the tree not letting it go 15 seconds after the other car died. just thought it was silly thats all. as you said it didn't matter we won anyways. the car is also a stock auto trans for the record. it has been built. but impressive for just some clutch packs and all that.
if you cant understand this ill make it simple. my original post came off wrong. i simply said i was surprised to see experienced racers do that. its not common down here.

I've been racing since I was 15 and there's the sneaky devils like Al (hehe) and there's people who simply don't know any better...either way it's best to be prepared for anything on amateur night and just go with the flow
