Hmm I don 't understand how someone can forget what mods he put on his car. I have 272's but I don't remember looking at the #'s on them. See if he can find the part # on them and call an HKS dealer for cross refernce.

in order to know if the are hks there are several thing to look out for

1. the cam each will say HKS ,once
2. each cam will have something written on it by hand with a special tool , hard to see but it will identify the cam , example if its a 272 one will say A04-??? and the other one will say A03-?? meanig a03 =intake a004 exhaust ,
3.go to hks get the cam part number then compare them to each cam example 272 intake part number 22022-am03 then see the cam and it should say a03-###
HOPE THIS HELPS !!

There is enough second hand cams around for-sale that I would just try to find another pair to buy. How can you forget what spec cams you have? Sounds fishy to me. I'd find another seller.

you could always spec it out with a dial indicator if you had one or have him take it to a machine shop or hotrod/tunner shop they should be able to spec them out

thanks for everyones help.

just found out he got them from a sales yard who pulled them from a car that was imported. the sales yard removed all the mods to bring it back to standard to sell and they wouldn't know what the specs would be. anyway the guy got it from them and was going to put them in his car but didnt.

it does have HKS imprinted on each cam. i'll upload the pic he took. im also going to see them today so will look for the part numbers and post some more pics.

is there anything that i need to look for that might suggest that they are hammered?

check the lobes out to see if one side is higher than the other for taper and def stay away from chips or scratches or anything chewed up
