I have an Link G3 for EVO8. The car isn't finished (well behind schedule), so I've not tested it yet. However, it appears as though the setup is relatively easy and straightforward.

The Autronic has nice features like Autotune (for AFR) and such, but costs more and does NOT have knock control, which was the deal killer for me. The Link does have knock control, and costs less. That's all I can offer at this point. The software looks relatively straightforward. If the factory ECU proves to be cumbersome with my final setup (in progress), I'll go to the Link and call it a day.

$2500 new zealand.

The LEM G3 runs the same firmware as our "top end" management systems ensuring that you get the very best out of your engine.
Use your factory idle speed hardware (stepper, solenoid - no problem)
Precision 3D boost control that is superior to stand alone after-market electronic boost controllers with air and engine temperature compensation
Capable of running everything from distributed engines through to eight coil V8's as well as Rotary engines

USB on board for direct connection to your laptop
Absolute stability of tune regardless of altitude and daily changes thanks to the on-board, barometric sensor
Run your multi butterfly (NA or boosted) engine with confidence by selecting 4D fuel mapping
Keep your LEM firmware (the software the ECU runs) up to date with free downloads from www.linkecu.com

Select the engine you want to using the factory triggering from the LEMG3's digital set-up menu
Lots of spare "in & out" wires to give you the flexibility you need for fans, pumps, switches, lights etc.
Plug the DisplayLink straight in for instant results

The LEMG3 arrives fully optioned, use the features you want
The open 2m loom is included
Mounting brackets are supplied
PCLink works immediately after installation

LEMG3 starts "out of the box" using base start up maps that are a good starting point for dyno tuning

Group or staged injection, you choose
Add a "pot" to give the driver the option of reducing boost or a switch to select another boost map
Switched dual mapping for different fuels
Dual maps to optimise switched cams (VTEC)

4 MB data logging on board (to be enabled by firmware upgrade later)
Compatible with the excellent, cost effective, Innovate LC1 "wide-band" sensor and controller
Limits galore to protect your engine
Temperature stable engine tuning thanks to the essential inlet air temperature sensor sold separately
"Rocket fast" 40 MHz microprocessor for "rock solid" control up to 20,000 rpm
Huge fuel and ignition maps (if required) with 0.1 resolution that you can define
Cold start your engine "better than factory"
Control your nitrous or water injection in real time 3D tables
Motor-sport proven anti-lag, launch and flat shifting
Run up to 1.5 bar of boost (22 lbs). For an additional 10% on your purchase price the LEMG3 can run 4 bar! (55 psi) If specified at time of ordering.

I sent them an email regarding the pricing to get a quote. You actually have to contact them for pricing and shipping costs. I read just about everything on there page and there are two options. Theres a full stand alone and the g3 which plugs into the ecu using a adapter. And it states it retains all stock ecu features and emissions unless there lying on there page.

I think you are a little confused about what you are reading. There is a stand alone ECU called the G3 and the XS connector that allows you to add extra inputs to the G3. There is nothing that connects to the stock ECU.

FYI - I used a LINK unit many years ago onmy Subaru WRX it was one of the best running and easy to tune Ecu's I have ever worked with. It was a pitty that they never released the one for a AVCS Subaru until after I had already sold my STI JDM conversion WRX and got an Evo. Their stuff is very good.

They also make the Knock Link which is a great knock gauge.

This may be my next step... I still love the stock ECU, but I also like to try new things.
