Transfer case

Well i started to dig into my leaking TC after the dealership tried to fix it 2 times.

I started the whole process by draing all the fluids Transfer case, transmission. I drained the transmission and i got 2 1/2 qrts which is a lil low.

I drained my Transfer case and i got 1 1/4 qrts. doesnt it require .58 qrts?

Im thinking they overfilled my transfer case but if so why would it cause it to leak? Do those damn o-rings cause a cross contanimation of tranny/tc fluid? Really please help me out!!

According to the owners manual:

Transmission 5 speed: 3.0 qt (2.8L)
Transmission 6 speed: 2.3 qt (2.2L)
Transfer case: 0.63 qt (0.6L)
Rear diff: 0.58 qt (0.55L)

Wow they really over filled the rear diff. Where exactly are you leaking from?

Are you an VIII MR or 5 speed?

Its a 05 Evo VIII 5 speed. Could this cause it to leak? Should i just fill it up with the correct amount and run it? Its leaking between the transfer case and transmission.

Do those o-rings stop the fluid frpm transfering to transfer case to transmission?
Please help me out guys.

So "yes" those o-rings stop from transfering fluids from one to the other?

So is this why my damn transfer case fluid was 1 1/4 qrts? But due to my car being on jack stands my trans only drained 2 1/2qrts which from what i read is somewhat normal, maybe more would come out if i leveled the car.

If the dealership overserviced the TC will this cause it to leak? and how can you overfill it if the damn fill plug is on the side and overfill would just run out.

Not sure if this is even possible, but maybe the oring went bad and some of the tranny fluid has been pushed into the transfer case? And that is why your tranny fluid level was low and your transfer case fluid was high?

Is it possible? Something is going on.

Why in the hell do these o-rings go bad all the time?

Don't overfill your t-case, and the o-rings wont leak. That's all you need to know.

Quick question, if im hearing a whining sound does that mean its definitely the t-case or can that be the trans, if its the t-case does that mean i can just get the rebuild from shep for 350 or does it mean that its something more serious?

guess you dont get the point. I put 1.5 qts of oil in my tranny, and wait a minute, and the the tranny oil starts to go into the transfer case so tell me how im overfilling it? also the way i can tell its the tranny oil is because i took the little plate off the bottom of the transfer case and can see the oil coming into the transfer case from the tranny.
