Tcase removal

Ok im knee deep into it and the post i read said to remove the support under the car that runs front to back with 3 bolts 2 front and one rear. but the motor mount is attached to this. Will the motor be ok if i remove this or do i have to support it with a cherry picker or something similar?

ok i figured that out. no big deal.
does the cross member from left to right need to be removed? It does not state that on any posts or the evo repair manual, but it doesnt seem to want to come out.

If you're leaving the trans on and the driv/pass mounts.

You may have to loosen or unbolt the rear mount to tilt the motor&trans together far enough to squeeze the tc out.

I can't remember exactly but i think i may have loosened up the entire lower member to drop down about an inch or so to also help getting the tc out.

Hope that helps some.

Need to disconnect the d/s at the first yolk 4-12mm nuts.

Then slide it out and then i normally remove the tailshaft housing 4-12mm bolts i believe.....just be careful.

I don't think i had to lower the cross member much...... not more than 2 inches if i remember correctly.

Sorry but this last time i left the t/c in while i swapped clutches so it's been a few months lol.

unbolt the rear mount and put a jack with a block of wood under the front of the engine, jack up the engine to give you room to pull off the tc.

So remove the rear engine mount (the one attached to the crossmemeber)? How is the Tcase attached to the D/S?

What is the best way to lower the the crossmemeber?

Weird the EVOmoto "How to" mentions nothing about lowering or removing crossmember.

Like i said you may not necessarily have to lower the crossmember as i was r&ring the entire motor/trans together when i did mine. I removed the t/c prior to dropping the entire assembly.

Sorry to come off like a a-hole but are you serious about the d/s question? Did you read my other reply above

The rear mount is held in place by 2-17mm bolts and has a long bolt that goes through the rubber.

Once you get down there, it should be pretty obvious as of what and how things are connected.

Jack up the front of the engine, this should give you more room to wiggle it out. Wait, I think its the back of the engine...one of those. I can't remember, it's been a while.

+1

you do not need to drop the subframe, remove the rear engine mount and put a jack on the oil pan to swing the engine forward.
