9sec9/OKIX's EVO, ROUND TWO!
David, I agree with you 100%. It was just such a good event, I think we all want more. The dillution of attendance is a very good point. Twice a year is probably perfect. I know for me, I'd like to attend something like this every month during season, but it just doesn't exist. The Import Face Off is probably over doing it by hitting a track about every two weeks or so.
What I don't like about the Face Off is constant breakage by other imports and the 'shutdown' times. At least at Norwalk, the runs were pretty constant. Very good job on their part. I was just wishing for more.

I agree with you david. Every year they have Waterfest, the largest vw & audi show in north america at englishtown raceway park with a huge attendance every year... why? cause its on one weekend every year. Having more than one will just give people a reason to say "oh well I will make it to the next one." Doing it this way will insure that people have one event to look forward to
I will be going next year

I changed the oil and filter. Put the front underpanel back on (we didn't use it at the shootout and probably could have picked up another 1 mph or so). Re-taped the front end and new decals. Took the car out for a cruise and everything's looking good. Next outing will probably be next weekend.

Hey Tom, have you ever though about getting the front bumper fiberglassed instead of taping it all the time? I am curious because I have wanted to do it, but I am not sure how it will turn out.
Thanks jb. Here's
to getting more traction. The problem for us was the huge torque down low and the fact that we had no choice but to run the drag RADIALS. We knew it would be tricky. On top of that, I'm still trying to learn the AEM and 2 step settings. The radials can't use the boost that the slicks can use, so the tune gets changed a bit. I'm not nearly as quick as David is, so it's easy does it for me. The first launch lit the tires up, no traction. I lowered the 2 step to 6000 and no spool up, 5 psi boost. Left it like that for one more run, still no boost. Changed it back up to 6400 and left it. We still lit the tires up, (some of the video shows all 4 smoking for a long ways), but it was consistent, so I just left it that way. Tony had to just drive out of the spinning and rely on the horsepower to do it's job.
We put the slicks on and raised the 2 step to 6800, but only got 2 passes and they were basically clean-the-tires passes, since they were brand new. The launches looked much better, but the boost wasn't up by as much as I would have liked. Still need to dial that part of it in. I found some tuning improvements to make and it should do well next time out. Final 2 passes only reflected 2 psi lower than the dyno runs on an RPM/RPM basis, even though I had the boost turned down at that point by 5 psi. Turbo RPM showed nearly the same RPM as the dyno run the day before, but that was heat doing it's thing. With 2 more psi up top, a little more timing, (AFR's were perfect), Slicks, aero changes... I think we'll see some good times/mph soon. I predicted 140+ before the races and we got 140+ 4 times with a best of 141.67mph. I'll predict 145+ in the near future. Should also see 9's. That still remains to be done however.
LoKiEvo, yes I have, but lighter than FG. I still like the simple method of tape. Weight is good and is fairly easy to do. I noticed that my friends in PR also began taping their front end, shortly after our last Tulsa TnT when Aniel with FP came up. It's nothing new, we did it YEARS ago too, it's just that no one else was doing it in the Evo world except us. Guess old school is still hanging in there.

I knew you would read that. Notice how I didn't point any fingers? See LoKiEvo, you CAN get what you want without having an attitude.
Jim, we could also use the single-sided insulation for the back edges to help on the protection side. By the way Jim, don't worry about this too much. I can't get rid of all of my old-school ways. Leave me some for posterity's sake. You know when we change the aero there, I'll just find something else to go Old-School.

I want one of those coming out the *** END. Jet propulsion for additional mph up top. Could I get a nozzle like the After-burners have, then I could find a way to hit the revlimiter for a brief moment, lower the timing, add some fuel and light it as Tony crosses the traps. I can see it all now, we'll call it the MELLON-ATER.
Uhhhhhhh....mmmmm.....OK....the FRONT SIDE gotcha back!
Interesting data. As most of you know, I keep track of every timeslip and input it into my database. That allows me access to time differentials, mph gains, etc. Now, on the old setup at 445 whp, Norwalk track at last years October shootout, same tires as this year, different turbo, but same cams, little less weight, same driver, new airbox, but a lot of the same setup:AVERAGES OVER ALL RUNS
Last year avg 60' = 1.69, this year= 1.69; Last year avg 1/8 et= 7.158, this year= 6.934; Last year 1/8 mph = 99.26, this year = 105.78; Last year 1/4 mph = 126.43, this year = 139.61; Last year 1/4 et = 11.05, this year = 10.53.
The above last year averages included 4 runs on the quick time pros, so the average et's on same tires were actually a little higher. I'll see if it's significant enough to repost just those without the QTP times.
