9sec9/OKIX's EVO, ROUND TWO!
Thanks for all of the congrats. We've worked hard towards a couple of goals. One of them was 140+ and we made that a LITTLE easier than we thought. The next was the 9 second pass on stock appearing turbo and setup.
Mellon, I was hoping for a little more gain on the back half, but 32 aint too shabby. We did 35+ at Norwalk, but that was SMOKING the tires. Not much smoking last night. When we left home, I had already set the tire pressures to 13.5 psi. After getting to the track, Tony and I talked and I decided to raise the pressure to help break-in the new slicks. We went to 16 psi, knowing that better launches would be found at lower psi, but thought we would get more passes than we did. For the 9 second pass, we lowered the tires by 1 psi to 15 and I had Tony shift at 8500. First pass was shifted between 8000 and 8200. Anyway, I'm rambling.
EE, I'm positive he didn't lift, but I'm still in bed. I've got to pull the log and see what you're talking about. Not too much can happen in the first 60' with a 1.43, so I'm guessing you're talking about during the shift. Tony lifts on every shift. That makes it that much more amazing. The tune was left the same on both runs. I read the logs after the first pass and for the first time ever, I couldn't find anything to 'quickly' change. I wanted to test a few Mivec changes, but that's for the R&D coming up. When we swap out the JUN's and go to the FP-5R's, I'll revisit the Mivec maps. No sense in doing it just before we change cams.
VWJeff, Thanks for the inspiration. JK. We're light and that helps. Not as light as we COULD be, but I like keeping things as close to stock looking as possible. We weighed the car and with Tony in it, we weighed 2858. Tony weighs a buck 20. Add the uniform and helmet and the car would weigh 2725. That puts us 323 lbs heavier than the Anibal's car in PR, so our MPH and ET's are pretty good, considering. On top of that, the 60's will drop with lower tire pressure and a little quicker shifting. I've always said that 9.80's were obtainable at current weight and setup, maybe 9.70's. Since we didn't get a 3rd pass to dial the tires in, we won't know for a while.

The weight difference between our car and Anibals is almost the same as our car and your car. That kind of puts the weight into perspective. Calculators show we used 634 whp to run the 141.67 mph while the PR car used 567 whp to run the 141.97. The interesting thing is that we used 567 whp to run 9.99, while they used 568 whp to go 9.59 et. That's driving difference on the et. As far as engine power, we're right there or maybe a little ahead. I just don't think I'm willing to go to the weight extremes on the car. We still have the A/C under the dash and a few other things, but I think we'll just do it with horsepower and more driver experience as Tony get's better.
Congratulations on meeting your goals for this season, both of them et and mph!
Forced Performance is proud to be a part of such a top shelf program as yours Tom and Tony. We can all thank you for demonstrating the capability of the FP EVORed Turbocharger when pushed to its max output. Cars like yours give us all a reason to dream

Congratulations on the 9 second pass that is fast as hell.
I'm amazed at what you are saying about weight. You are saying the PR Evo that ran in the 9's on the Green weighs around 2500 lbs with driver? That is crazy.

Thanks Robert. We're proud as hell to be a part of the FP team. We're still forging ahead and have a few tricks left up our sleeves, but for now, we're very pleased. Thanks again for you and your companies tremendous support. We WON'T let you down.
crcain, the RED passes, not the Green. I'm not too sure at what point the car was lightened. I'm pretty certain that it was about the same during the 9.97 pass, but information acquired after runs are made isn't always real reliable. But, for the most part, yes, that's my understanding. Doesn't matter beans though, we all have the same opportunity. They just do an excellent job of capitalizing on it and spending time at the track to work things out. All in all, I'd say we do our part for basically once a month racers.
As for what's yet to come, if things work out, we may be able to hit the track some more this season. It just depends upon how quickly we can get some R&D done and back together and racing. What we're up to now, should pay dividends for many hard core racers, if all goes according to plan.
warp9, Congrats on the order. I know it's easy to overlook a sponsored car owners comments, such as I made when we first tested the Red. Kinda nutswinger, 'gotta say it', kissin-***, etc... I know. But the world is now really finding out how good this turbo really is. I also still stand by my original comments concerning the HTA White. Midrange-Topend is very strong, but my pick, Uhhhhh.....RED! Enjoy your new toy.

Thanks, I'll get right on it after rebuilding Noah's Arc, walking the dog, and buying a window sign on www.johnmccain.com to **** off my neighbors. Should be done with that stuff tonight, I'll start on your stuff in the morning.

I don't care what you have PLANNED personally, we have REAL work to do. Put down the Dr. Pepper, give the dog a toy and start to work. Times 'a waste'in.
