Walbro 255 and fuel filter
razor, post #6 is correct. The actual filter material is inside the $110 part, cut it in half and you will find it. That entire inner area is filter material like you would picture a real fuel filter to be.
The part you have is more of a screen assembly and if you look how the system is designed would not filter the fuel any better than the sock found on the bottom of the fuel pump.
We found the actual fitler assembly building modified fuel assemblies in the beginning trying to get the cars to flow more.
Now we cut about 5 of those assemblies a week.
So the real fuel filter is located in #30 in your diagram. It is not servicable.

I'm running the Walbro 255 is there a filter in that.
NO!
As per davids first post in this thread and his second the damm filter is in a $110 part. The 255 has a stock which is simply a strainer to protect the pump from debris. The low micron filter is in the $110 part which protects the injectors and **** upstream.
Its amazing how a simple correct answer can be debated on these forums. Sorry for my attitude but just go out to your car and look at it for yourself. It kills me how many people want to be spoon fed gerbers baby food.

No, the filter, I've cross referenced it from Mitsu Parts Lookup I have.
LancerShop is incorrect and has the wrong price as well.
You can cross-reference it here too:

I know this is coming back from the dead... but I had to complete this thread based on a link I found:
1 x Fuel Filter Cartridge Type
Ref : MR571545
This is the cartridge type fuel filter.
This is a lifetime filter and should not require changing unless you've broken it or put diesel in the car or some other contaminants.

So what happens to the fuel filter assembly when you switch to say a Full Blown Double Pumper!? Do they have their own fuel filter? Good info in here btw! I have always been curious of where the fuel filter is in these cars.
