Clutch issue

I took my car to a local shop because my t case blew (I got that fixed) and they told me that I need a new clutch. I thought they were just giving the the run-around because I have the Exedy Twin Disk clutch and they are re-buildable. The mechanic at the shop said the clutch dug a groove in the flywheel so I need to buy a whole new clutch. Does this make sence to anybody? Can someone tell me why I just can't replace the flywheel? What are some other options I have, what are some other clutches that compare to the Exedy Twin Disk in performance?

you would only need to replace the flywheel if it has the groove in it, then just get the rebuild kit and you should be fine...

tell him you wanna look at the flywheel first. make sure they arent just trying to get money out of you

Depending on how deep the grove is you may be able to have it cut.

I'll have to see how deep the grove is... I'll get back to you guys on that.
