Best Cam Gears On an 8 ....???
I ran the Fidanza gears for about 40,000 miles on my last 4G63. Like Greg said though, the hardware is pretty small on the Fidanza gears.
Pick the best cam for your application first. If you want an even better match to your needs, then cam gears can be helpful.

I just used a set of AEM's 5 bolt gears and was pretty damn impressed. much larger hardware than the fidanza. the only down side is the fact that they don't use a stud like the fidanza, so if you happen to overtighten an aem you will be rethreading the aluminum. On the other hand i have seen a couple of the fidanza gears that have had bent studs.. which leads to broken studs, which leads to pistons and valves making out....
You thought of making your own set of cam gears? If so how much so i can send you some money to get a set going....

It's really quite simple.
Aftermarket cams are timed all over the place. Anyone who believes that all these cams makers invested countless days of hands-on research trials to successfully optimize the settings to meet all applications is living in a fantasy world, because no such thing exists.
Cam gears are best suited and most effectively used by those who either:
(a) Know how cam timing affects power delivery
(b) Are willing to learn how cam timing affects power delivery
(c) Want to tweak their setups to maximize performance for the intended usage
Not everyone wants to take this step, and that's just fine. It definitely isn't for everyone.

Hey guys . I was wondering what are the best cam gears to purchase for an evo 8. Or does it really matter as much as cams? I have searched but really cannot find the answer i want. I have Tomei Pro 280 cams and would like a Nice set of Cam Gears that match my good cams . Also have an AMS 35r kit.
So the question is simple . what are the best Cam gears I could buy ?
