I have a little time so I'll elaborate a bit.
Got to the track nice and early. Got there around 3pm and I was the first one there. Sun was shining and it looked like all the stars were 'lined up'.

45 mins and on the phone with Gamebred, the drizzle turned into a storm.

Somehow the clouds cleared and the sun just came up. They opened up the track and let us in. (This is when I emailed you Ron.)

Looked like I was going to get a run or two off afterall.
First pass sucked. Track wasn't exactly 'sticky' yet. I was the 2nd car down the lane and there wasn't much rubber laid down.
1.6660ft
7.2@95.21
11.32@124MPH

Picked up 29mph in the second half, but I smacked the limiter, granny shifted, and did everything else behind the seat to blow that pass. Also, a few more adjustments need to be made to my knock control. Like we always say, the track is different from the dyno-- seems like the ecu doesn't like it when I bang gears with the twin disc. 1 or 2 minor adjustments to my knock algorithms and my mph should climb considerably.
And of course being a fat bastard doesn't help either.
Took a pic while I was on the scale yesterday----
So I guess I'll take the seats out next time. hehehe.
Next time around got warned. "Break out and you are going home!"
Decided if the 60ft was good enough, i would tell them to f-off. If not, i would just back off and try again.

1.71 60ft. Track still sucked.
Later on in the eve though, the opposite happened. A few big blocks in the gambler's race had the track sticky like sliced cheese on the kitchen floor.
I decided, since this was going to be my 10, I would roll through the waterbox and do it like the bigboyz!!

1.64 60ft!.. I thought I was on the way, car hooked hard- a little too hard. I thought the clutch slipped a bit ( as you can hear in the vid ) but some timing was being pulled. Got off that one also, and of course that was the last run allowed for the day.
Thinking about shooting over to island tommorrow since I haven't gotten this bug off of my shoulder.
2 things to note ,,,
A> Hp on the dyno is only part of the equation. Getting the car up the track and hitting the et goal takes alot of other factors into the equation. In hindsight, i should have done more datalogging while banging gears on the street. I would have found my glitches sooner. I just don't live in the kind of neighborhood were I can go for open wg blasts. I use the track as a tuning instrument- but it sure gets expensive.
B> Power to weight is the boss!
So the way I see it, I'm still .4 away from my pump gas, stock motor goal. Every little bit helps. I guess it's time to break out another round of tricks before tommorrow.
Your 1/8 is still down... Your car would have to pick up 35+ up top to get you to the 130 were you should be with that hp figure. I would turn the boost down and try and make a consistent 470-480 on the dyno.. That should get you into the 126-128 range.. And into to the 10s.. Your driving seems to be pretty spot on.
1.66-1.64s 60fts.. I would hardly call that a slick track
Good luck tomorrow! Lets see some 10s!

My rev limiter is set to 8300, i shift at 8k.
Fre and Mellon mentioned that shifting at 8500 helped bring their 1/8th mph up 3-5mph and I think this is were I fall short. I know you are an awesome driver, what do you think?

back in the winter I was at an 1/8th mile track and doing 96/97mph in the 1/8 shifting at 8k but when I started shifting at nearly 8500 in each gear I was able to stay off the limiter going through the beams and that's when I got my 100mph in the 1/8th on 93 octane camel ****.
I've since installed the tilton twin disc and now I can shift faster than ever but it's 90-100 degrees so I doubt seriously I'll be able to replicate my best runs which were in the 40* weather at that 1/8th mile track. Also my BR 2.0, stage 3 head and BF 272 cams are on the way so i want to save the clutch for that. I've always had a goal of 10.99 @ 130 on pump

I think I'll give that a shot.
That ever elusive 10sec pass just slipped my fingertips again.

yeah I can't get the 60' for the 10.99 part
once the next round of mods are done I'm hoping I can do it with sheer HP but I'm still going to get the wilwood small brake/rotor kit and some 15" wheels and maybe some hoosier quick time pro's or something like that.

10.90's at this weight on a radial is all about the 'perfect pass'. How much does your silver machine weigh?
Thanks for the advice and i think you are dead on. Looking at my slips, i'm more concerned with my 1/8th mph. 95-96mph means to me that something isn't right.
My rev limiter is set to 8300, i shift at 8k.
Fre and Mellon mentioned that shifting at 8500 helped bring their 1/8th mph up 3-5mph and I think this is were I fall short. I know you are an awesome driver, what do you think?

I cant really comment on holding the gear without seeing how the power curve is shaped. Just the general rule of the higher you shift the further into the rpm band you will be in the next gear. On a 35r etc.. you are probably better off shifting up top higher and letting it fall back into a flatter or "peak" area of your power band.
I wish I could shift the subies up high in the RPM.. or even have 4 gears to shift.. That is why my MPH is always low.. Shifting 5th kills the top end.. So I end up with slips that look like this:
1.53 60ft
4.65 330s
97.8mph 1/8th mph
11.01 1/4
121mph 1/4mph
I have 3 slips that all look like this... Pissed me off to not crack the 10s on 18s and pumpgas.. It was 100+ degrees out though..
Erk, you will get it man.. I can tell you are very determined.. Just stop trying for the big numbers, stick with a median one and drive that **** into the 10s. Consistency in the power will get you there.
I like this post F the MPH !! .... we are drag racing.. a 10.9 is a 10.9 whether you spun, bogged, picked your nose... Its still a 10.9 no matter what the MPH is next to it

Thanks for the vote of confidence Jr. I can see why Manny, Ron and Freddy talk so highly of you. You are a stand-up guy with a love for the game.
Here's the curve again...

I'm adding another deg or so from 5500-6750 tommorrow on my street pull. Car just feels insane and i think I need to learn how to drive it all over again. I keep spanking that rev limiter like a big boody stripper. I can clearly see what Mellon was talking about in his 35r write-up.
Thanks again for the advice.
