Can't you just send your Green into FP for the upgrade? Or are they(FP) only filling orders for new Reds at the present time?

We did 550+ on the 3076 on DSM's a LONG time ago. Its a good unit. But because of the mass flow capabilities of the hot side power will drop off sooner in the RPM range. Think of the EVO Red hot side as being a twin scroll .7x A/R 34R and you'll be close.

minus the q16 or other fuel, the large front mount, and the aftermarket ems that wont obd test (among a few other minor issues you would have).

^^^ it's shaping up to be a hell of a stock frame turbo, I haven't seen anyone complaining about it. looks like FP has another hot one.

my partner is thinking of getting a turbo upgrade. He has JAM 2.3 stroker with stock turbo. If he gets a FP red is it a straight bolt on with no mods necessary? He has all supporting mods except injectors.

Thanks

If he has an VIII, then he'll just need the IX compressor discharge tube and a couple of oil & water hardlines, also from the IX. If he already has a IX, then he can just plug 'n' play.

Does FP sell these parts along with the turbo as an option?

Hi,

If it's you Derek posting, nice to see you on here as well,if it's your partner posting and it's you who is getting the red, then man give Derek my regards.

As far as the red bolting on,the only that you need is the boost pipe(the black pipe with the flange that is connected to the cold side of the turbo, the compressor, and on it's other side leads to a hose that is connected to the intake intercooler pipe),you don't need the water and oil lines as you can bent slightly the existing ones to adjust them to the turbo.

I even used the viii boost pipe by cutting the flange of it and welding it in onother angle so as to match it with the green.

This is if the car is a VIII if it's a IX then it's a straight bolt on.

cheers,
Marios(4g638-MLR)

Yeah, FP sells an install kit that includes all of the required parts. Others have gotten away with just using the IX compressor discharge tube and slightly bending the hardlines to fit. All of the IX parts needed for the swap, such as the aforementioned discharge tube, are fairly inexpensive and can be purchased individually from any Mitsu dealership.

The IX compressor discharge tube is a must though. If you try to run the VIII compressor discharge tube it will interfere with the electrical contacts on the starter motor(A Bad!).

True the parts are inexpensive, but why get them when you can sort it out differently, the boost pipe(discharge tube as you call it) can be modified in such a way that will not affect the starter motor cable.
