Idle???????

I got my car started this week after engine rebuild. And it idles very high above 1500rpm with AEM EMS. If i try to reduce Idle% vs Target table (it controls IACV (aka stepper motor)) the car just dieing under 1500rpm. I tried to put stock ecu back and almost same thing happens but it idles around 1200rpm.

I need to know is it normal that it idles that high for my modes.

I have 2.4 bottom: JE pistons 8.5CR , eagle rods.
Head: HKS 280, supertech double springs, all 1mm oversized valves, ported to remove factory casting imperfections nothing major.
I have also tilton twin ceramic clutch wich is lighter than stock.
Also have AMS VSR mani with 65mm TB on it.
Let me know if you need any more info.

You might get better response to your questions over on the Evo Engine Management/Tuning forums. More specifically, there is an AEM EMS subforum

What i want to know, if with my modes my car supposed to idle 1500rpm or it is problem with my engine management. And i tried stock ECU and got almost same result. I just need to get opinion from somebody who has big cams, oversized valves, and light clutch!!
Thanks.

It is not normal for the car to idle that high once warmed up. You should be able to get the idle down as low as 900 RPM, although it will be very lopey that low. Your issues are most likely tuning related.

Check the throttle cable adjustment slide bracket behind the Valve Cover. Too tight and it will hold the plate open hence high idle

Check to make sure the timing belt is in time, I rebuilt an engine on a 1G DSM once, and I was 3 teeth off on the T-belt, it idled very high. I dont think this is the case for you, but its worth checking...

Try adjusting you idler screw. On the top of the TB there is a phillips screw. It controls the idle via the IAC.

Checked timing belt and everything is good. Due to higher block i had to retard the cams 3.75 degrees to get them to "factory" position so it should not be a problem.

Tried that. The problem is if i cut air, either by idle screw or by tuning IAC motor the car dies. It is running at 1500 if i try to lower it just wont idle, afr is about 14.7 and it follows perfectly AFR target table. I tried make idle reacher about 13-12 same problem. Will go to tune my AMS soon hopefully they can find what is the problem.
