Car moving at neutral gear position
Car moving at neutral gear position
I changed out my oem clutch for the Exedy Organic recently. Clutch felt fine and was happy with it. Ran in the clutch for about 700km. Yesterday after my track session as I was returning to the pits, I noticed that my revs held on despite down-shifting. When I put it in neutral, my car was still moving as though it was in 1st or 2nd gear. I up shifted from 1st to 2nd gear then neutral but problem persisted. It was only after I upshifted all the way to 4th gear and back down to neutral and the car was normal again.
What could have led to the problem? I'm pretty sure it's a clutch install issue but would like to know what mechanical parts could have been spolit.
Cheers.

Sounds like a diaphram spring or springs let go..could also be warpage of the disc and or flywheel from excessive heat. This will make for really jerky engagement, creeping. Also check the clutch engagement rod, might be out of adjustment after the hot laps..
And if your tracking your evo with an organic material clutch...it's no surprise your having problems.
Change that clutch out for a higher performance one. Preferably one without a sprung hub for racing.
