a respected tuner's opinon that was posted on lancer register: http://www.lancerregister.com/showpo...0&postcount=41 the other 2 tuners wish to not be mentioned, 03white you are probably familiar with them

-our twinscroll 35R will spool 400+ rpm earlier than a singlescroll 35R
-our twinscroll 40R will spool 100-150rpm earlier than a singlescroll 35R

if you want more power than a twinscroll 35R can do, go twinscroll 40R. If you want the fp turbo, stay single scroll.

for a good comparison, look at evodan's car (stock 2.0L longblock, 93 octane, 26 psi, reflash'd jestr ecu, just 272s + valvesprings/retainers) on buschur's dyno and compare it to one of buschur's hta 35R setups

I don't think I have seen the graph of EvoDan's car on Buschur's dyno. Anyone have a link?

Thanks Geoff, I was having a hard time finding it. As always, gotta love that torque "mesa". I don't think I have seen that steady and flat a tq. on a non- twinscoll setup.

thats all on buschur's dyno... perhaps he can make a better overlay than this:

TS35R @26psi on stock motor vs HTA30R@31.5psi on buschur's evo:

TS35R @26 psi on stock motor vs HTA35R@33psi on buschur's evo

TS on a 2.4 or 2.3, YES, awesome.
TS + HTA... well, that's what has been and is being discussed here... and so far Geoff and anyone else who seems well qualified on the matter doesn't think it's that a great of an idea.

yea...I think a 2.4 with a fullrace twinscroll 30r kit would be a kick as street setup.

And you appear to be correct.

We installed an HTA3582R with 1.06 TS T4 housing on my car, and to the surprise of all of us, it appears to kick ***. I was concerned that the smallest available TS T4 housing (1.06) for the 35R would be a too large and negate the TS effect, but it feels MUCH more responsive than my .63 A/R open 35R setup ever did. To further that thought, I am using a DI Intake, BIG cams, and a large primary exhaust manifold - parts that I wasn't using back then and should worsen offboost response. On the contrary, after a half-dozen different turbo setups, I feel like I've found a winner.

Also, I cancelled my order for the HTA86R today. It seems that turning up the wick with E85, dual pumps, and 1250cc injectors already hit 100% IDC at an AFR of 12.0, so going to a larger turbo won't do anything for me except worsen spool. If I were going to wring it out for all it's worth on Q16, maybe, but not for this daily driver on E85.

Now, I am going to go back and drive a respectable open housing 35R again just for comparison's sake, but anyone considering a TS T4 HTA setup shouldn't be anything but impressed. The car is a ball to drive, and feels like it's always rolling downhil . . . quickly!

what are the specs on your cams Ted? Are you going to dyno it? Be interesting to see how your setup compares to the open .63 power wise

The cam specs unfortunately are not for publication. This goes against my modus operandi and I almost chose not to use them for that reason. It was problem enough for me to get the specs for my own personal use. I'll disclose a little more about them when I make a proper writeup, but they are not a simple bolt in affair.

I'll put the car on the dyno after I develop a thorough street tune. Since it appears as though my fuel system will reach its limit before the turbo does, I'll get as much out of it as possible and will post the results. Whatever dual pumps, 50 psi base pressure and 1250cc can do on E85, I'm just about already there.
