Changed cams 55,000 miles ago, timing belt 20,000 miles ago, and relieved tension 3 to 4 additional times all on same tensioner and belt tension is the same. Could it have to do with the procedure, retension, or something?
Got me worried though , I will definately dig in deeper and swap it out soon (80,000miles) when stock water pump and alternator gets replaced.

It has to do with procedure i think. however if you change your belt / cams i know y our running a risk of the car jumping time.
My buddy and i murdered 2 sets of valves in a talon before we changed the tensioner and it worked just fine. Both times car fired right up ran for about 30 seconds then sounded like it was cammed to death.

okay guys i think we found the problem.... not sure if thats it for sure... but its one of the issues... timing was off they fixed that and cranked... didn't crank up....
the problem is with the revolver cams i have.... if anyone knows about these cams.... they have a different bolt that goes in the cam angle side
that bolt that i put in apparently didn't come with the cams i bought.... and it shredded ....
what ever that plate is called near the cam angle sensor.... its all chewed up.... so i need to replace that if anyone can get me a part number on that...
because i have no idea what it is called...
and then if anyone knows if there is an adapter that goes with it...? in order to get the cams working if not i'll have to sell the cams and go with something different....

MD327107 cam position sensor
MD329502 - cover, cam position sensor
MD329503 - gasket, cam position sensor cover
MD375814 - reluctor (I'm pretty sure the metal thing that bolts to the cam)
MD368730 - reluctor bolt (I'm pretty sure the bolt you're talking about)
BTW, I've R&R'd my tensioner a few times without replacing it and 15,000 miles later I haven't had any problems with it jumping time. It only had 20ish k on it when I did it though. I'm not saying replacing it isn't a bad idea.
This was found in the parts number request thread, so I can't guarantee accuracy. Hope this helps.

tensioners dont go bad from you releasing them. that is untrue.
its when the procedure is done incorrectly and you have too much tension by either; wrong belt or wrong gears. then when you put the correct ones on and release the tensioner it doesnt have the same amount of force when its released further out anymore, which would allow the belt to hop, skip, and jump timing.
tensioners also wear out in time, but usually thats a looooong time. ie: 80k
