Drag Racing 2nd gear lockout

Took the car to the drags tonight and only ran one run where i wasnt locked out second gear. Adjusted the clutch pedal and every gear is smooth but second. I can get into second smoothly at any rpm under 6000. WTF is the deal it is seriously pissing me off. I dont think its the tranny because 2nd gear is always smooth under that rpm. Any ideas?

had the SAME problem due to a act clutch. also did the same in 4th gear for me too. the clutch never releasing properly slowly ended my trans life, lol.

what clutch are you using? a built trans and exedy twin solved my shifting problems

Your problem is the clutch. Take it out, put in Exeddy then run over ACT clutch with car. The more you beat on it with that clutch in the car, the sooner you will need a tranny.

I have a Shep tranny and ACT HDSS clutch. I used to have the 2nd gear lockout even when it was stock. I know alot of Evo ('03 & '04) owners have this issue. I rarely have it but have not experienced it in awhile. I got motor mounts and the underhood brass shifter bushing and that helped.

i was having 4th gear lockout with the act xtreme 6 puck so i got the buschur shift linkage bushings and that seems to have solved it. i still am gonna get a solid front mount.
