No Boost!

My car has been on the stock turbo again for two weeks without any problems. Today my car started being very laggy in first gear so i stopped to check it and the security pin was of that connects the wastegate to the o2 housing. Causing the wastegate not to open and therefore my car has no boost. I put a pin back on and connected it and i still don´t get any boost! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

if the wastegate never opened, youd have infinite boost...

Well i am pretty sure that the problem is coming from the wastegate because the pipe that connects from the wastegate to the o2 housing was off when i checked it. I put it back on but i still dont get boost.

So maybe the wastegate doesn´t close? Opposite of infinite boost?

well yea, if the wastegate arm was completely off, then the wastegate would instantly open with any exhaust flow since there is nothing holding it back, therefore bypassing the turbo. i would think that at some point the amount of exhaust flow would be enough to get some boost. but you mentioned that even with it back on your getting no boost. when you put the arm back on was there any preload on the wastegate? was it very easy to put back on, or did you have to pull it hard to get it back on?

well there should be some preload, but i dont think lack of preload would give you no boost, maybe very little boost, not 0. you can try putting a few turns on the arm, see if that makes a difference. the arm should sit just below where it mounts up, you should have to use some strength to get it on.

there is adj. on the wastegate. if the lock nut wasnt tight when it came off the turbo the adj. could have come out. not holding the door shut.

The nut adjuster on the wastegate is tight.... But the thing that connects to it that is on the o2 housing is too loose... How do i tighten that?

Another option is build a leak detector, and listen for leaks while the car is off.

Leak Detectors always come in handy!

Thanks,

Michael
