aem twinfire with COP setup... Is ANYONE running this without issues?

Like the title says, I'm just curious, is there anyone running this setup without major issues, I was under the impression, that it was just pretty much plug and play, I mean wire up and play, but for some reason the transistor inside the ecu is no longer sending a trigger signal, so long story short before I actually go through the work of hookin this up. can some ppl confirm that they have done it and runs fine, please pm me or something, my yahoo is feauto187@yahoo.com

Check your dwell settings and check if the aem box is blown.

Buschur, I think, used to run the AEM box with their COP units but a lot of them went bad and AEM put little effort in support. Buschur then swtiched to the M&W cdi. Also almost everyone is using the M&W box now.

My advice is either swtich out the aem box or go with a simple HKS DLI setup (depending on your setup).

I don't have any experience with this box on an Evo, but i know AEM has fixed ALOT of issues from the past. I have been running a twinfire box on my honda and no issues. Its the brand new box, the old ones were hit and miss all day long..

I've heard of many people having problems with them and the aem box blowing....on my buddy's built ka24det it caused the motor to blow up and couldn't figure out why the motor was knocking so much and thought it was false knock until on the second built motor they threw on the stock ignition and the knock disappeared

i used to run one with cbr coilpacks.it was the older style box.i thought it had failed on me and replaced it with an m&w unit but it turned out to be my crank sensor.i have held on to it for a rainy day.it ran fine on my evo.

I am running one of theses on my galant, I got the first batch of TwinFire's and it blew the fuse on key on. So after it was RMA'ed I got it back and waited 1 year before installing it. Once I Finally hooked it up, the car fired right up. I have not had a problem with it at all. I did have to lower my dwell times, but other than that it has been working great.

I am waiting until the start of 2010 before I go around recommending these to anyone, but so far the results are good. I want to make sure that I have some real miles on this unit. It does look cool as hell next to my AEM EMS and AEM Meth kit .

Here is a thread on the AEM forums that you should read.

These units are no good. From personal experience and from friends and others its the same story.

Mine left me stranded 50 miles from home. My friend has gone through 3 of them he says.

Mine had less than 1000 miles on it before it crapped out. I called a few shops and apparently they are on recall and a new and improved design will be out JAN 1st. What to do? I don't want my car sitting in the garage till then. I would steer clear of this unit until we hear better things.

sorry to bump a month old thread...but i thought they 'improved' the design sometime last yr? now its going thru another revision?

i need a CDI box...and am a fan of AEM's quality so i rather stick with that, but i dont know. i swear i hear more about twin fire failures than MSD DIS box failures (which ive seen are pretty common).

I dont wnat to go M&W route...just way too expensive for an enthusiast.

Dynatek ARC-2 it is i guess?
