Engine Overboost

I have a 2003 Evo 8. Recently I just installed Buschur TBE, Inline MBC, Buschur Filter Kit w/ MAF Pipe Kit and UICP....basically all of their Stage 2 package.

When I took the car out I was boosting around 18-19 psi and in 3rd and 4th gear around redline, the car would feel like it would cut out and a loud pssshhh sound would occur. My CEL came on and when I got a diagnostic, it read that I had engine overboost.

My question is, would a tune fix this so I can run higher psi? or is this abnormal?

Also, if anyone knows of a great tuning place I could go that would be great. I live in NE Ohio.

i got the same thing, it all happened with a bad tune i got. to rich, timing not right, the dude was a moron. i took it to Lucas at English Racing. he tuned it and i never got another light. i ran 21 psi til i upgraded the the fuel system. now i run 25 and it pulls great. get a good tune and youll be set. also i suggest at the very least getting an A/F gauge installed. make sure you arent running lean or too rich.

It's really weird. It was only happening when the boost was turned up to 18-19. If I turn the boost down to 16-17 it acts fine.

David Buschur is out this whole week. Should I wait until next Friday to get a tune or is there a reputable tuner in the Ohio area. I will be home Thursday night so I can drive a good distance on Friday.

isnt that a boost cut???
you just need to lower your boost down until you get tuned... You can rest the ECU but when you hit the boost cut twice, the CEL will come up again.. All you need is a tune..

Is your ECU stock?

Don't think not having the solenoid ports capped will have anything to do with it as stated above. The ecu just wants to see a load in the circuit, if not it gives a (different) cel

seems to be what happened.

As for the caps....I have already completed this when I installed the mbc.
