you must not know about brake boost. evens the playing field for any turbo in terms of spoolup.

Not necessarily... We need to specify what RPM we are brake boosting here.

Brake boosting is something that should be done from a roll even with a stock turbo!

Now as far as the .63 Vs .82 on the 6262 goes the .82 wont pick up as much power as some think it will especially with a good setup. Peak power means absolutely nothing. It's all about power band and how long u are making your peak power and staying in it.

i dont think there is like a correct and final answer for that quiestion , cause it will depend on many factors , what amount of boost ? what type of use u will give the car ?

if you are on the 2.3 u wont be getting into high rpms , so i would say the .63 will make it more fun ..

NOT at all bro , as i said there isnt a perfect answer for that quiestion

id say do the .82 and go wild with it and if u feel maybe its laggy (wich im sure u wont feel that ) then just switch the housing to a .63

theres people that love the .63 , and theres people that love the .82 its just a matter of power goals ...

KEEP US POSTED with ur dyno numbers !!!

The housing is actually an S cover anti surge, not H cover.
The part number for the s cover with surge ports is 500-6262-B. I would do the .82 a/r on a 2.3/2.4 and a .63 on a 2L. Although I have a .82 for my car stock block but I dont mind lag too much.

Not to thread jack but it seems relevant to this topic. As far as journal bearing 6262s go, is a .63ar or .82ar better for a 2.3l stroker? I've currently got an ETS super value short runner manifold and want to know what other people think. I want a fun power band with the potential of ~500 on 91pump and ~700awhp on e85. I wasn't sure if more of you guys were going with journal bearing or not, but I've always had better experience with journal bearing turbos as far as price/rebuilds are concerned.

Thanks!

You won't have a better experience this time. Journal bearing turbos the size of a 6262 don't make for a 'fun powerband' on this platform, and very little value here. The cost savings are not worth the increased lag and loss of transient response as compared to the same turbo with a BB CHRA, and virtually no one uses them for that reason.

As for rebuilds, rarely does anyone here with a BB turbo need a rebuild, despite the fact that many are run well beyond their intended shaft speeds. So long as it has an inline filter and correct oil feed restrictor, they are exceptionally durable.

FYI
