the light could be because of a oil pressure sensor going bad. i just replaced mine and many people have problems with them.

the tick may be just your injectors or normal lifter noise if ur not familiar with ur car.

thats being optomistic. if its not that then u have some horrible oil pressure and prob need a new oil pump

put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on your car. Check your pressure cold idle, hot idle, hot cruising at 4k rpms. report back.

I'm putting my money on spun rod bearings. I bet you have little to no oil pressure. Your lifters are making noise because there is no oil getting to them...your oil pressure light is flickering because you're on the threshold of the light turning on. Good luck! I would get a hold of the seller asap.

yea i think it is the oil pump but you only here the noise in the valve train. i spun bearings in my mustang after a shop messed the engine up and clogged the oil pump and beleive me i know what that sounds like and its definatly not a spun bearing or bearings. when the oil was changed i saw no metal at all. if the oil pump is bad why when i disconected the battery and reconnected it the light went off and the noise stopped. thats what is confusing me. why is it only happening after i changed the oil and the battery?

5w30 or 10w30 is perfectly fine for a stock motor. If you have a built motor, some people use 20w50.

If you drive the car and you are around or over 4k rpm and oil light is still on...then shut her down.

Put recommended oil in there with mitsubishi filter and see if it goes away. Properly check level after filling by running engine till warm, parking on a level surface (garage) letting it cool, then checking. Ticking when not at idle with an oil light can mean something ugly. Like worn bearings causing lack of pressure in the head.

Classic nuisance lifter tick usually happens at idle and goes away off idle
