Evo 8 engine tick / oil light, please help!!!

hi i am new to evolutionm and am 17 years old and just purchased a black 2004 evolution 8 with 75k on it. when i got it i changed the pluggs and did an oil change. after that i noticed when you give it a slight rev i hear a tick in the engine from inside the car. its a slight tick but didnt notice it before. and now my oil light is really dim at idle and not sure if it wants to come o the at 1100 rpm the light goes away. the oil level is perfect and there is no visible leaks. the engine is extremely clean. idles perfectly but cant figure out the problem , i think it could be the oil pump and its not making enough pressure.

any help would be great.

thanks

no cel? Try turning off the battery and plugging it back in and see if the problem goes away. If not then its probably something more serious. But I think the tick is coming from your lifters which is usually due to low oil so you might be right about your car not getting enough oil

I suggest somehow, read the oil pressure. You can buy a kit. Low oil pressure can be caused by a few things, perhaps bearing wear. There may be some kind of clogging at the oil pick up inside of the pan too. Or maybe your oil sending unit is failing, or has an open/resistance in the wiring.

Check for voltage at the oil pressure sending unit.
It is a one wire (Blue and yellow) and should have battery voltage with key in the on position.

Its located under the intake manifold, on the drvers side

you need to check your oil pressure. Get someone who is familiar with cars to help you. I meant checking the sending unit with a DMM by the way. You can unscrew the oil pressure sending unit, insert oil pressure gauge there to check for oil pressure.
The tick is probably being caused by the low oil pressure.

if the sender unit was bad would that cause low oil pressure. i do have knowledge with all this but have never worked on an evo just an 5.0 mustang which they are a little differnt . so if the oil pressure is good but the light says it isnt will that affect the oil pressure when the sender is plugged in?

do a search on this forum

i posted up the same problem b4 in another thread. my car has 65k and it has been doing the same thing. i do remember the guys telling me to check the wires to the sensor above the oil filter or near the oil cooler i forgot exactly where it was located but somewhere in that region.

most ppl stated that it wasnt a oil pressure problem more electrical.

it does the same thing where it wants to come on and sometimes flickers on and off at idle but once u get running it goes away correct?
