To add, I do want to try an HX40 next year. The spool up is again, not like a 16G but it is much faster than a 40R with similar if not higher power potential (650 WHP seems to be nothing for these on DSMs). The HX40 is the best bang for the buck IMO if you want to go through all that fabrication. Both turbo's also seem to hold ridiculous levels of boost without breaking a sweat. I've seen a lot of 35-40 psi setups that hold that level to redline. Thats amazing to me given the fact that it's a $300 OEM turbo off a pickup truck.

"thats a volvo" ?
at any rate, if you wanted faster spool, Hy35/HE351 is what you'd want, most have a 4 inch v-band outlet and a much smaller turbine housing than the vanilla hx35's.

Uh yea. Not the same engine as an evo, therefore the numbers aren't gonna be the same. They could be close, but I don't know jack about uvulas.

You guys are on crack, I'll take a ~$300 Holset any day that still spools like a stock 16g6 and out flows a 35r and will last for 200k miles without issues.

Show me your builds, I want to see the backyard Joe setups where the owner actually takes the initiative and had to create/fab/weld something on his own instead of grabbing his checkbook/credit card. I know I'm not the first to go this route, so let me see what you got!
I'm really interested in this concept. I have a little welding skill and would love to do a bang for buck holset mod job on my evo some day. I did some searching and had some trouble finding a good source online.

Does anyone have any good links on where someone can pick up one of these turbos?

I propose to go with hx40super, It is much better than regular hx40 or hx35.
It should give equal power as 3582HTA. Those have been proven to work here
in Saab, Volvo, Audi and many more other enginse, displacement 1.8...2.5l
pro52 is for 700whp+ maniacs

If I can find something that has similar characteristics as a HTA 35R for ~$300, I'd run anti-lag daily!

Thanks. I'm more looking for a link where you can throw one in a cart and click the order button. That link is pretty much like all of them I've found. Phone numbers and no prices. I don't have a core either.

I was interested in the hy35. I don't really want to give up much spool and I'm not looking for much over 400whp. I'd like to keep my stock internals.

Im thinking about getting either a hx 40 or hx 50 instead of a 6262 suggestions on which one? Im shooting for 600whp on pump, could always just go all out drag and get a hx 60. Where can i find what hp there rated for? When i went to their site it was like 300hp for the hx 50 which is not close to what people are seeing.

This will be the 3rd time I've tried to respond so hopefully it goes up. The HX52 is way too big for a street car IMO. the 40 can make in excess of 800 WHP and the 35 has made over 650 WHP. The HX35 flows around 70 lbs per minute and if I remember correctly the 40 is closer to 79 lbs. Those horsepower numbers you see are on a diesel pickup truck. The HP is considerably different. Google DSM Holset and a ton of sites will come up with a good deal of information.
I'll get some good pics up this weekend. If you guys have any questions, ask away and I'll try to answer them.
If the site falls down again before this posts up, I'm going to snap.

I saw a dyno sheet somewhere of a 2.0 spooling a hx52 like 6K

edit: 20 psi @ 6.5 k

edit deux: hx52 comes from volvo semis

+1 I did some searching. It seems these are the great cheap turbos that nobody sells online? I read the hy35 flows 60lb/min. I did find one on ebay and I found rebuild kits for under $50.
