cam install...need some help

quick lil story lol

just got some quick qeustions before i oreder some last things for my set-up. i was at the local race shop my buddy owns and i was talking about doing 280/280 cams on my evo IX. this dude goes you no 280 cams on the mivec doesnt have a big lope? i said really? my buddy in FL has the cosworth M3 set-up (280/272) on his IX and his car has a huge lope. but yet all the HKS 272's ive heard dont have a big lope on the IX. the guy said because the mivec evens it out?? ive never heard of this.

im looking for a big lope cams. not a lil rumble. i love the way the 280s sound and perform on the VIII's but this guy was convinced the IX wont have the same lope. idk.

so will the 280's have a big lope on my IX?

im going to an FP Red with aquamist meth kit, dogbox racing built 5-speed

so i want some sick tourqe.

thanks for the help.

You can adjust the lope with Mivec via ecuflash.

search the ecuflash forums for lopey idle. Its something with changing the first 4x4 cells of the mivec ignition timing.

Yeah, you can advance the idle cells in the Mivec map.

I think he was talking about in general with 280 cams on an IX, if they still sound lopey like they do on the 8s.

Best bet is to look at the full cam specs not just 280/272/260 etc.... One companies 272's are not identical to the next. Do some research about cams and decide what you want out of your car.

Since you getting a red your going to want a cam that will compliment the high revs.
