Hello everyone! I FINALLY got an Evo, I'v been waiting for years...Anyways, I was wondering if it was possible to make near 500whp (PUMP GAS) w/o having to spend millions... I was looking at the FP red! Forced Performance said with the right mods that turbo could be really close...
2003 Mitsubishi Evo:
FP Red Turbo
AMS Intercooler
AMS Turbo-back
1000cc injectors
Walbro Fuel Pump
Those were the main components...Do you guys think its possible?? I dont want to spend all that money on a certain plan if its only going to make me 400whp... Thanks for any info you might have!!

I'd trade the Red for a HTA86
you'll also need some great cams and a clutch
500awhp is right on the limit of PTE 1000cc injectors and a single walbro, might make sense to step up to the double pumper in case you end up wanting more than that.
see sig for details about tuning
Great! Nice feedback...Iv done my fair share of researching, but the outcome was anywhere from a 200 shot of nitrous, to having to fully build w/ t88 race gas and MAAAAAYBE ill get there...Some people have better results than others, so i like to hear its easily doable by at least a few...I live in Miami now, but soon ill be back in Naples; no E85 there...I had a civic w/ 480whp, so I kno what the power feels like. I bought this car cuz I wanted something FAST that I didnt have to fully build. Just a bigger turbo, fuel, and a sick tune to make me lots of power. Iv driven a Green'd evo w/ 400whp and it just wasnt enough! I know 500whp can be done with a stock motor and minimal mods(under $10k), just gotta find the right combination and the right tuner...
If the guy wants an easy 500 WHP from his VIII, on 93 octane(w/o Meth or E85), from the stock longblock(unported head), on the factory ECU...then the FP Red isn`t going to do it for him. He`ll need something like an HTA-35 turbo, a large FMIC, the appropriate cams, etc.
The Red is good, but any way you slice it, on straight pump gas, it will fall about 60-70 horsepower short of 500.

I think 500 is doable on the Red on 93...I have a customer at 471 (DLL) on the stock head. I think a BR stage 3 head and better cams would put him at 500+. It would be much easier with a HTA 35R or HTA86 and offer much more with head work or higher octanes.
You and I both know the 470whp Red car will beat the 500whp 35r or hta 86 car all day.. Unless of course you run EXACTLY the MPH you need to run at in the 35r car.. Every other way the Red will have it covered..

either would be fun as hell.
I remember that when The Red first came out we were seeing numbers about 30-40 higher than were possible from the Green on pump. So, now I agree with you that the Red makes the most sense for wringing power out of a stock motor on pumpgas. It is clearly a superior turbo choice for the average Joe. Thanks, Mike

Is this on an VIII, or a IX, Chris? Either way though, 470 DLL on 93 is quite impressive. What was the boost level( about 28 PSI?)?
