back to the track with our new FMIC
back to the track with our new FMIC
Well we made it back to the track with the EVO on Friday night.
We now have our new FMIC kit installed on the car.
Previously the best run I have made in the car was a 12.48 at 111 mph. Kevin had run a best of 12.42 at 111 mph.
We made 6 passes on Friday night, the worst one was a 12.38 at 110 mph, this was also the only pass of the 6 that had such a crappy mph. We had one other that was 111.29, the rest were 112 mph.
O.K. onto the good stuff.
I ran the car and ran a best of 12.37 at 112.15 mph. This is an improvement of .11 and 1 mph over my best before the FMIC.
Kevin was also there and ran a best of 12.26 at 112.47 mph, this was an improvement of .16 and also a little over 1 mph.
All in all I am pleased with the results. With higher boost and larger turbos the large FMIC is going to help out more. I am still pleased that we gained this much with the upgrade.
Next we will be installing the HKS cams in the car, this should easily drop the car into the 11's.
I also want to make a couple of side notes. These times were done with 19 psi of boost, this was boost as the car crossed the finish line in 4th gear. The spike on the boost was up around 21 psi. Also at this point there is NOTHING touched on the internals of the engine, the car is still running the stock turbo, exhaust manifold and 02 housing.
I am very impressed with the car. These cams should really wake it up...........I'll keep you all posted with results.

David,
Pump gas? What are you goint to use to control timing when you put in the cams? Judging by your current techniques on drivability, I am assuming you will go 264/272 or 264/264?
Also. Got any dyno numbers on that intercooler. Tell Tym to answer my d@mn emails.

The car had some sorry *** pump gas in it from a station we have never gotten fuel from. When I got in it it was sputtering for some reason at high RPM. I dumped about 2 gallons of race fuel in on top of the fuel that was in the car and the miss went away. I have banned Tym from getting fuel at the station he got it at.
We will continue to use only the AFC for now. The cams we are going to use the 264/264 cams.

The turbo kits are under way. We have a company working on casting the manifold for the turbo kit. This is going to take up to a couple of months.
You can go to our website for complete details on the parts that are on the car if you like. I will try to list all of them from memory below.
Complete Buschur Racing (BR) 3" exhuast
BR MAS pipe and airfilter kit
BR upper i/c pipe kit
BR manual boost controller
BR boost gauge mount
Autometer boost gauge
AFC2 fuel computer
BR mini battery kit
BR FMIC kit
This is it for parts. Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 complete is on sale right now for only $1999. The FMIC kit is also ready to ship and is $750.

I'm very excited about your turbo kit development. If I understand correctly, you are working on a manifold that will allow for us to use forward rotation turbo's like the DSM's?
Correct, the manifold prototype is complete. We are now waiting on the tooling to have the manifold cast to be completed. From there it goes off to be cast. This casting will be the highest quality material casting that can be done. Once we have the casting in our hands we will find someone to do the finish machine work. We are expecting to have them here, finished and ready to ship in 2-3 months. I know it seems like a long time but after that there will be no waiting times and you are looking at a complete turbo kit for your EVO with turbo's that can produce in excess of 650 WHP for under $2500. Kick ***.

I went to your site to maybe order stage 1 or 2, don't see anything about them.
The parts are all the site, not sure why you didn't find them. Go to parts and then follow the site to the EVO section.
Good luck.
Give us a call if you have more problems.

Your down pipe that bolts to the OE O2 housing now in production, or something new that will be specific to the kit?
