Bushur TBE vs. Cobb TBE
Here is my car on the dyno with a Cobb TBE..Quietest exhaust I have heard on an evo without a cat...

Just to clear a few things up:
I have the Buschur TBE w/ test pipe and bullet muffler.
I have not once been bothered by cops in my area. I live in the state of Ohio.
The exhaust never once has been burdensome. I can listen to music, talk on the phone and not be the least distracted. Even with the windows down, I can carry on a conversation.
I am sure the cobb is nice and quiet, but so is the Buschur if you don't constantly mash the gas. And the best part is that the buschur delivers power, can be loud if you step on it but never annoying. I don't think the cobb can compare to an exhaust that will deliver the best of both worlds.

The cobb delivers "the best of both worlds". The buschur exhaust is not even close to the quietness of the cobb exhaust. Your exhaust might meet up to your standards of quietness, but if it's not close to being stock volume then it is not quiet for the majority of the quiet exhaust seekers.
Are you able to hear your tire/road noise? Can you hear the ever so slight wine that all transfer cases make at very low speeds? Are you able to wisper to the rear passangers? And at cruising/holding constont speed, could it possible be mistaken for a stock unmodified exhaust? I dont think so.
As for power, have you seen what the cobb looks like? It has minimal mandrel bends and does not taper. Those are the key factors in making power. The muffler and resonator are perforated so they dont affect flow hardly, unless if it was louvered but thats a different story.
The buschur stainless steel exhaust is a very nice system, especially the v band option. Now it might have a tollerable noise level, but we are not discussing that. We are talking about quiet, and unfortunately quiet is not one of the excellent features of their exhaust. (for both normal driving and WOT)
well whichever you choose a sacrafice is being made, the buschur TBE will put down more power than the cobb and that is a guarantee. If sound is the most important issue then you will be probably sacraficing power.
Like I said, I have never been bothered by the cops, no one has complained and after researching for the perfect exhaust, I found it and that is where I stand.
When cruising around town, it's not even close to being loud. The one thing the cobb will never have is the invigorating sound of the buschur at WOT.
With the buschur, sound can be controlled, with the COBB, you're stuck at a dismal quietness.
I bought an Evo, if I wanted to whisper to my gf or hear the tires squeak I would've bought a cadillac.

It doesnt matter what car you drive. In the end we are all driving street vehicles designed to transport you from point A to B with some sort of luxury, at the same time meeting government regulations.
Sound is a matter of opinion. For me, the best sounding exhaust system is not being able to hear it. I rather accelerate full WOT with no sound other than air rushing into the turbo than something the the rest of the world considers cool.
And for the record. The cobb is not quiet during WOT. But at the same time its not going to warn the cops a mile down the road that you decided to do a little spirited driving. The only reason I got rid of it is because I want a 3" system thats exactly as quiet as stock. And I'm going to try and build/peice different things together. At the same time I dont care about squeezing every inch of horse power. I rather give up 10whp and be quiet.
Also, remember back in the days people considered certain cars as rice? Well what is rice? Is'nt it basically just modifications down to a car to seek attention? (flashy stuff) Well then wouldnt loud exhausts be considered rice? Why would you want a "good sounding exhaust"? Most people just want to hear people say, "thats a nice sounding exhaust". Well for the other few we want people to say, "you should turn on the car so we can go."
In the end its just goes down to different strokes for different folks. The key importance is that your happy.
I totally agree. I do think we all have different preferences. I am just stating my review on the exhaust I purchased. I didn't want an exhaust that was overly loud, I wanted to get the most power for the buck and I wanted quality. I received all three of those aspects from the Buschur exhaust. Let's agree to disagree on the sound issues because everyone has an opinion on what the definition of "loud" actually is. I am sure the COBB has certain attributes that make it a great exhaust, but I chose Buschur because they cut no corners and deliver in the performance area.
I'll start at the bottom and work my way up.
Slip fit connections are certainly NOT cutting corners. We did it for the weight savings, easy of installation and adjustment of the system actually. The exhaust comes with high quality SS band clamps that seal the system up and hold it in place.
The sound of our system with out bullet muffler is pretty loud. I always tell someone IF they have to ask how loud it is they probably don't want to go with our custom bullet muffler. The Magnaflow muffler option on our system is just about perfect in my opinion. I don't know many guys who own EVO's that want them to be dead quiet and not hear them at all. The Magnaflow muffler, inside the car, gives just enough noise you can hear the exhaust but you are still able to listen to the radio on very low volume and carry on a normal conversation inside. If you want the car to be quieter then I suggest keeping the car legal for the streets and run a high flow cat on the car, then it is VERY quiet with the cat/Magnaflow combined.
Our exhaust are 100%, 304 grade stainless steel. We attempt to only use SS tubing made in the USA but many times use it from Canada also. We do have the absolute lightest SS exhaust system on the market. I will also put our exhaust up against any other for power output. Some of you I see don't think a few horsepower make a difference and certainly a few pounds may not to you either. The fact is when you are building a car and want the most power/performance for your money then it does make a difference.
The 304 grade stainless steel does not rust, it does turn a brown color from heat though and ours is more prone to this because of it's thinner wall and weight. The welds on our system are TIG'd also with SS wire.
My 2004 EVO RS with our full 3" turbo back exhaust on it and our bullet muffler has run a best of 9.04 at 159.64 mph. Nobody else's 3" Evo exhaust system can lay claims to doing that, nobodies.
What may be a 4-5 whp difference on a 300 whp car can easily turn into a 80 whp difference on a 700 whp car.
Something else to note on this particular comparison. We do not import our systems. Not that it matter to a lot of people but we do our best to keep people in this country working. Somethings of course, at times, have to be bought somewhere else, but I do my best. Our exhausts, every part of them, are built here in the USA, with the exception of sometimes the tubing coming out of Canada.
Good luck with your choice. I appreciate you considering us.

I have never seen he cobb or heard it but the buschur TBE cat delete and bullet muffler gets me compliments a lot. When I heard my own car, my brother was driving it and i was driving his evo it just sounded awesome. Pretty loud and unique sound. Very raspy setup but every-time the car gets in boost the buschur exhaust makes it sound awesome. I know your thinking of the magna-flow muffler for quietness which is your personal preference but i think you will be very happy with the buschur setup and the install is very easy.

I also live in the state of ohio never been bothered by the cops and i have had it on a year now. Also in car it is not loud at all. My brothers stock evo 9 rs with a greddy cat back is more droning and annoying in the car.
Basically its between the Buschur with magnaflow and Vbands or Cobb. Does anyone have pics of them on their cars? both JDM and USDM rear ends... Sound wise, I want it to be quiet, however, quiet is relative. I do like it louder than stock, when WOT, I want to hear it scream. As a daily, I like to be able to manage the sound, keep it at a level where i can here my music and others talk.
So,
1. Video clips of either exhaust? Inside and outside car...
2. Pics of either exhaust on JDM and USDM bumpers?
I like the Bushur, but the 2 things that worry me is TOO loud and I am worried about how the magnaflow muffler looks on a JDM rear. (hangs down) I love the Vband option...
Also I want to run catless so... however that effects either system...

You will hear the cobb exhaust during WOT. But here are some video clips of the Buschur and Cobb. Video clips audio usually dont pick up sound as true as in person. The best thing if possible is hearing in person. But any case here they are, choose what ever makes you happy.
