What do I need to switch between 2 maps on a stock ECU?
Just as the title says. I heard a "Tactrix cable". I'm assuming this just connects my laptop to my car. What about the software part of it? Where can I buy these parts? I'm looking to get the car tuned on 93 & 110 leaded or maybe C16 & have the ability to switch between the maps for the appropriate conditions. Thanks!
4WStuning has good deals on the tactrix. Go to mellon's website, there is a nice vid on how to use the cable and ECUflash. Im pretty sure Aktivematrix.com (SP?) has all the software you will need. Make sure you save the stock map, its very easy to switch between many different maps, just an upload. This is all on a laptop of course
. Good luck!
The tephra mods give you the ability to switch btwn different maps from the ics button I believe. There is also a wire harness they sell for 20 that gives a switch in which to toggle btwn the maps.

I think he's asking about switching between 2 maps stored on the ECU vs flashing between two maps using a laptop. In that case you'll need Tephra mods 5.10 and you can use your intercooler sprayer switch to toggle between the maps (if your car has one). If you have a IX, you can either install the intercooler sprayer switch, or you can purchase a premade harness from user 'Jack_of_Trades' and install the ECU pin on the IX ECU.
Using this method does not actually allow for 2 entirely different maps but the secondary map has it's own fuel, timing, and boost tables.

can anyone shed some light on this? does the evo 8 require the jack_of_all trades switch to have you add a pin in the ecu or just tap into the ecu with the harness provided from jack??
I am new to this stuff but wanted to start tuning my own car by myself. I have an 05 Evo VIII, a laptop but I need the Tactrix cable correct? What else would I need to be able to tune by myself and is there anything available for newbs so I know what I am doing and why?!
The 05's didn't come with the intercooler sprayer so we would need to install an ECU pin on our VIII's ecu correct?
