PATCH: TephraMod V5

* slowly evolving post, will be changing when more instructions are written! *

Hi All,

I am now up-to version 5 of my mods, here are some details:

Due to the nature of flashing and changing your ECU I suggest you ask plenty of questions before doing it as I can't and wont be held accountable for what happens to your car.

In this patch you get:
- 2 levels of knock cel flash
- some ICS mods
- map switching (timing/fuel/boost)
- no lift to shift
- valet mode
- rear o2 simulator (not heater)

*No Lift to Shift*

Allows you to shift without letting off the throttle - if you do it right it keeps boost up and puts less load on the transmission/driveline.

Enable No Lift to Shift? - Controls whether to enable or disable the NLTS code.
NLTS RPM Drop - When the other conditions are met the ECU will apply a revlimit of 'shift rpm - drop rpm'.
NLTS TPS Threshold - What TPS is required for NLTS to active the revlimit
NLTS Speed Threshold - What is the minimum speed you must be travelling at to enable NLTS - basically allows you to slip the clutch on launch
NLTS Load Threshold - What is the minimum load for NLTS to activate - for the down-shift blippers!

NLTS Testing/Prerequisites
1) Check your TPS extends to 100% when the throttle is flat down, make sure it doesn't reach 100% before you are at WOT
2) Follow the below test proceedure so you get an idea on how NLTS works

* flash a "test" rom, with speed threshold = 0km/h, load threshold = 0, tps threshold = 20%, rpm drop = 800
* start car, DONT DRIVE, put car in Neutral.
* rev car upto 2000rpm
* put foot on clutch - KEEP FOOT ON GAS

Car should almost stall but then bounce of a revlimit of about 1200rpm

If you do this test you will get an idea of how sensitive your clutch pedal is; a lot of people say they have
problems, most problems come from the super sensitive clutch pedal by resting you foot ready to shift.

* Alternate Maps *

Allows you to switch low+high fuel+timing, injector scaling and boost maps (bwgd and bdel) on the fly without reflashing.

Currently there are two methods to switch maps, either by holding down your Auto ICS button for a predefined period
of time OR, for EVO's without ICS, wiring up a switch to a spare input channel.

Obviously you need to configure your "alternate maps" with the settings you want. Don't forget to configure which
switching method you want (Enable Alternate Maps Master? ADC0F=1, AutoICS=2).

* Various ICS mods * (Only applies to ICS equipped Evo's)

Restore ICS State on Ignition? - Sick of AutoICS being turned off when you turn the car off?
Enable Manual ICS Linger? - Dont want to hold down the manual button?
Manual ICS Linger Time - How long to keep spraying after you release the manual button - dont set this too high or you will burn your pump out.
Enable Spray ICS on Knock? - Pretty obvious, only works when AutoICS is "on"
KnockSum Required for Spray - Ditto
Load Required for Spray on Knock - Ditto
Spray on Knock time - Ditto

* Enable RearO2 Simulator? *

This replaces the input of the Rear02 with a software simulator, you still need to have the heater circuit
connected but it allows you to wireup something *else* (WBO2??) to it.

*Valet Mode*

So you want to let someone else drive the car but you are worried they will flog it, just hold down the throttle @ 100% (while the IGN is ON, but the car is OFF) to toggle valet mode.

Essentially you get a lowered revlimiter, you can set it too whatever you want.

Auto Valet mode means it automatically does the revlimiter on "fresh ignition" this is good for thieves - set the limit to 0 and the car wont start.

XML instructions

So in the .zip file there is the actual ROM (.bin) and an XML file. You want to copy/paste the text from the XML file INTO your EcuFlash definition file (C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo\ 88580014.xml).

Just make sure you copy/paste it to before the </rom> at the end.

Normally I include a pre/post 1.30 XML extract, I have removed this in favour of getting YOU to change the endian!

+++ REMOVE ANY OLD XML YOU HAVE +++

GUIDE/INSTRUCTIONS
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh....php?p=4830835 Thanks Zach
These are old instructions but should provide a pretty decent starting point

Lastly I have been accepting donations for my work, if you like it or get good use out of it please feel free to paypal whatever you can afford to donations@globalshare.net

FINAL BIG WARNING
Whilst I have tried to test everything as much as possible it is up to YOU!!! to test each feature before driving your car around! If you notice any WEIRDNESS (including EcuFlash showing funny values for things) please post up so we can help you!

BUGS
NLTS (all) (25/3/08)
- Apparently the NLTS load threshold isn't working properly, until this is fixed set this parameter to something like 30%

FAQ

Will the KnockCEL flash if I already have a CEL?
YES

What happens if the car doesn't start?
Did you copy your Immobiliser code over? Please make sure you have copied all your maps over as well!
Did you remove any OLD XML in your definitions? Old XML incorrectly references code/maps so using it against the new ROM WILL cause problems!

ROMID's in progress - ie DONT ASK :P
96940011/96940015 - unfortunately this ROM doesn't contain enough space for V5 to fit; You can use 96530006 in place and it works just fine - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=334065
96260007 - soon!
96420008 - soon!

Watch the HOW-TO VIDEO HERE!!!!!
. . . .

Right Click Image to "Save As". File Size: 81Mb Duration: 18 Min. (Larger HIGH Quality version)

I also hosted it on www.Streetfire.net tonight which will be a smaller, easier to "stream" file for anyone who doesn't want to DL the FULL LARGE version (my version is larger and easier to view compared to the streetfire version).

Here's the streetfire link: (smaller, lower quality version)

I assume you mean 96940011 or 96940015?

As I said in the FAQ these ROMID's have almost no space free for my modifications!

However you may be able to run the 96530006 V5 ROM instead - Razorlab is currently testing this with a spare ECU!

I know it may seem a bit extreme swapping ROMID's so vastly different but we don't really have a choice

I have 96940011. What are the implications of patching my car with 96530006 and it 'not working' ?

In before the lock! JK! This is awesome! I was hoping to wire up my switch before this weekend, but it's tough now that the official patch is out for public consumption!

well it's upto you, but I would wait for RL to do it first as he has a spare ecu incase things go bad.

I am 90% sure that nothing bad will happen, but its better to be safe than sorry!

Adam Savage percentages of outcome:
70% chance the flash will work fine, but the car wont start
20% chance the flash will work fine and the car will start
10% chance your car will burn to the ground

WOOT WOOT

94170008 , i know its coming

I assume that the Map threshold is like v4.2, were you have to be below that load to switch to the alt map.

Tephra you have changed the game

edit** jamie if I order your wiring harness tonight will it come with the 4.7 DIODE

nice, paypal will again be on its way. Way to go bro, thanks to everyone involved.
True asset to our community, I just had a 02 bung installed for my lc1 so now I'll
really get to have some fun tuning.
Switched over all my maps and setting to v5. I decided to upgrade to ecuflash1.34
and evoscan 2.1. Everything I tested works, two different knock flash settings work,
2byte load, etc. Now I need to make a switch for alt-map. Thanks again dude!
Paypal sent
