Which Cams Combo?
Which Cams Combo?
Hello im new into the evo's and cams things..Im looking to install some HKS cams on my car and want to retain the stock valve springs etc..
Some Ppl tell me to go with the 264 on both int,exhaust..But I see that some ppl run 264/272..
What are the pro and cons on using different types and running the same on both..thanks
Oh btw I drive a VII JDM GSR

I have HKS 272/272 on otherwise stock head. Not to agressive imo, but they are more agressive than the BC 272/272 I was running. There is a huge thread somewhere on the fourms that dyno tested several different cams. Just do alot of research. There is also a very imformational video I used to help me with my instillation. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/H...-on_138721.htm . Thats for an VIII, im not sure if its the same as doing it on a VII but you get the point.

search evo cam test, AMS took alot of time to test various cam shafts and give the results. It sounds to me like the Kelford 272's might be a good choice for you, however normally you would want to upgrade the valve springs. If you don't run the car at high RPM all the time you might be ok though. Just know that eventually you will have to change the springs because with any upgraded cam shaft you are going to wear out the stock springs quicker then normal. If you absolutely don't want to change the springs, look into either the WORKS 269 or the greddy easy cams.
i got hks 264 in/272 ex .i like them alot u still get low end a lil loping ,and no stalling at idle on stock valvetrain.just purchased fpred so im upgrading cams for the jun 272's w/springs and retainers..i would go with 264/272 imo..i made 415whp and 393trq on 100 oct.w/hks cams and 381whp/363trq on 91 oct.its all in the tune ..
