Mine grinded all day yesterday going into 2nd. Because of it I lost a race to a 04 WRX. It's done it before so I always make note to have the clutch on the floor, and it was. But still it wants to grind going into 2nd.

 

There have only been a few days which I had a grind (clash) but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong! Tried today nailing the clutch on every shift. Zero problems. In fact with the correct timing through neutral the transmission just drops into the next gear with no syncro delay.

I think you are correct about the stainless line.

I have 3500 on my car now. Technique is everything when driving this car. The car happens to be the tightest, most unforgiving vehicle I've ever driven, not to say its a bad thing. Its a scalpel, and I've been using a butter knife for a LONG time. Much like riding a motorcycle, its not easy to master the vehicle. Deliberate with the clutch pedal is a necessity.
