bah, thought i'd chime in, had my 2nd pc680 for 6 months (first death was my fault) and it got a dead cell while i was filling up with gas. it's one thing when you leave your lights on, or let it sit for a couple months. lol but come on =p. i'll give this pc680 another shot but i'm sure i'll regret it =p...........

 

Owned mine for 4+years now zero issues.

 

I killed two of them letting them sit over winter, my fault...one came back to life and I let it sit again when the weather was getting cold/hot/cold/hot etc all in a week it let go again...now I have a battery tender, for $60ish its a good investment vs buying $100 batteries every year or two.

 

I had a pc680 for 2 years with no issues. It was a dd for only one of those years. I still have it though now its in the other race car, a mr2 turbo. Its still working fine. The only issue I didnt like is that it made my car crank really slow when starting. I guess it gives your oil more time to lube through the bearings but it still got annoying after a while. Its mounted in the factory location on the mr2 and even that car cranks a little bit slower. I got rid of the mini battery because the weight difference is negligible when compared to a healthy amperage source for your vehicle's electronics. I know every pound counts but for most folks, those extra lbs for a better battery for your vehicle wont be noticed except for a happier electrical system.

Im in the process of mounting up a new battery. something in size like a miata or s2000 battery. I almost considered mounting up a big AGM 95ah 850A EN 50lb battery only cause I can source them REALLY cheap (free). Great power source but it was just too big.

First PC680 lasted 4 years. On my 2nd one now

 

ive had to replace mine twice in the past 6months, its pretty silly. But i dont want to switch my intercooler piping, so I just keep replacing the mini battery instead of getting a full size.

 

mine died a day before it turned a year old =( that was probably my fault from neglecting my evo for months lol PM ME VENDORS for a new 680 shipped to 75063 lol

 

I'd recommend getting the stock tray, cutting it and purchasing a Miata battery. They work with our Short Route UICP and it'll be the last battery you'll ever need to purchase

 

I can recommend Braille battery from experience. I had one last 3.5 years of daily use. Get the size that fits your application. I personally use this .

Cold starts are fine with this one!

 

The Braille is a rebranded Deka. Do yourself a favor and buy the Deka equivalent, it's going to be quite a bit less expensive.

 

I have a braille battery (11.5lb) in my IX,
Cut the battery tray w a hacksaw and it looks nice and functions well. No issues w cold. PM if you have any questions

 

I purchased a DEKA after my PC680 died also. It's got double the cranking amp of the 680, weights not much more, and was cheaper. All win!

 

After 2 of these PC680 died I got an Optima Yellow and relocated it to the trunk. These are good but if you have anything extra it will drain too quickly.
