Yesterday I helped install a Perrin intake pipe with an Amsoil filter on a IX. The fitment was snug, but it worked. Trim maybe .5" off the intake pipe and it would be perfect.

I won't be able to test it anytime soon
Its a nice looking filter, but I'd like more information on it such as filtering ability, ability to clean and reuse, etc.

The WRX is now sporting the new filter, I had to do a bit of trimming to make it fit with the SPT intake pipe but overall its been a great addition. The turbo and BOV are now louder with the new filter and since its flowing more air than the SPT cotton-gauze filter (I'm pretty sure AFE makes it) I've had to adjust the tune accordingly.

Here is what the SPT filter looked like when new:

Since I've now had my Perrin air filter for over a year and ~18k miles I decided I would take the time this morning to clean it. It definitely had accumulated quite a bit of dirt, bugs, and sand over the year. I used the UNI foam air filter cleaning kit that Perrin sells and it cleaned very easily; just one application of cleaner and then rinsed it out with my hose. I'm still waiting for it to dry, but once it does I'll give it a nice light coating of the UNI filter oil and reinstall it.
I also took the time to clean the MAF with some MAF cleaner spray just to see how good of a job the Perrin filter was doing. I put the MAF down on some white paper towels and started spraying; the paper towels remained white with no black residue what so ever! There was also zero oil residue on the inside of the MAF so that myth can be put to rest. For comparison, I used this same method after 13k miles with a Vibrant air filter and the paper towels were black and nasty with a very fine grittiness to it.
