Has anyone else had this problem? Or should I tear my console apart to find the wire?

Honestly unless you just want it to work for your mental sake, it doesn't serve a practical purpose. Thusly mitsubishi got rid of it in '05

i believe only 2003 evos have that switch. maybe another owner changed the cover off an 03 and dont even worry that thing is really pointless and will not do anything for you

Not true. I have an '06 with the sprayer (JDM), maybe the USDM evos didn't get it, but it definately is there on my car. OP, try to remove the center console, it's really easy just 2 screws in the hole where the armrest is, then you can confirm if the plug is there, if not, then it's just the console off of an evo with the sprayer.

It works, but other factors have to be involved. I used Alky and water in mine but only helped with the temps after multiple runs.

Mine hasn't worked since I replaced the intercooler, but in the qtr mile I would trap about 1/2 mph faster, when I started spraying in 4th gear. I would also think in the hot summer, it would help against heat soaking, when it comes on automatically.

I have the tank for the intercooler under the hood, the sprayers in front of the IC and the light in the dash above the lancer in the gauge cluster. I guess ill have to tear the console apart to find the wire. lets say there isn't a wire under there what do you think they did?

It doesn't matter if it's needed or not, he is saying everything is in there but the wires to the switch aren't, if his car came with it why not use it? OP I think you should look for the plug under the console, it's very doubtful that the previous owner cut the plug, is there any way you can contact the previous owner and ask him what happened? Let us know
