Turbo problem?

Hey everyone, I'm not sure what the problem is here.. When driving my evom starting in 1st gear it will drive normally until aroun 3000rpm and suddenly there is a violent surge of power until around 4500rpm then suddenly it will drop 1000rpm then pick back up again even when I hold my foot into it. It repeats this in every gear. Even when cruising on the freeway in 5th at 80mph, put the gas to the floor, it will gain about 1500rpm before it drops 1000 and then picks back up. No matter what the enine is feeling way more erratic than usual. 06 Evo IX GSR, stock engine, no mods. Im thinkin about taking it to Mitsu....Any ideas?

it might be the clutch, im not quite sure.
when the boost hits around 3k or 3.5k the clutch slips and then it catches itself.

that sounds like a slipping clutch.

No check engine light. It doesn't do it at exactly 3k rpm. But, It always does it a second or 2 after you lay into the throttle. I was maybe thinking clutch as well, though I'm not sure. Timing perhaps?

So here's my next question: does Mitsu warranty the clutch? 43700 miles.

Definitely clutch man. And no, no warranty with that many miles.

It sounds like the clutch. I think they warranty them for 12,000mi. Now you see why!

Thanks for all the responses. Looks like I'll be swapping the clutch.
