when im in 5th gear and on the gas and let off i can feel a vibration and sounds like a ripped axle, you can hear it when the music is off.

any suggestions? need tranny fluid? tranny gone? 5th gear needs to be replaced?

is the sound a thud or similar to a clunking sound?

 

its difficult to explain. when im in 5th gear going highway speeds and let off the gas it sounds like a clanking sound but not loud like i can feel the transmission gear rattling and causes a vibration and sounds something like when a car doesnt have enough tranny fluid so it sounds dry. i was thinking maybe it was the syncro for 5th of low on tranny fluid.

sorry i cannot explain the sound further just sounds like rattling and is kinda rough for 4th and 5th gear when accelerating then letting off the gas.

 

maybe its the transfer case....

 

Check your fluids ASAP, I have a friend that his transfer case reservoir was empty now he needs a new pump and tc. I would start there cause if it is something small like that you will end up spending BIG bucks to get it fixed.

 

drained and put in new transfer case fluid but 5th gear still doesnt engage.
couple mechanics told me it might be as simple as a syncro.
reverse works SOMETIMES and 5th gear has quit on me. syncro problem or 5th and reverse gears are bad? and ideas?

 

I have a similar issue. In 5th gear I get a low constant vibration. I have exede twins so it makes it worse. I'm having ivey find out what I need

 

mine did the same thing before it went out. id go to a tranny shop and find out before your 5th gear quits on you like it did to me. good luck and lmk what the tranny shop says it is, it might be the same thing that happend to me

I had Shep build my trans which lasted 3K miles. Sent it out to them and they treated me like gold! 2 of my other friends have solid 9Sec DSM and use his trans.

 

didnt replace anything in the tranny 5th gear and reverse just quit, i never grinded or slammed gears either. does dogbox deliver cuz 825 is deals!

 

so you got a new tranny simply cuz your 5th gear quit?

 

no transmission has NOT been replaced or worked on its STOCK and 5th and reverse went out
