I got this filter used. This guy threw it in with a clutch line. I cannot not find an identification on it anywhere. It has the black netting thing going on over the filter material...anyone know what brand this is and if its even worth putting on my intake...

looks like the old style buschur filter which might be a k&n for all I know

 

How do you guys feel about the design? As far as power gain or loss..I am concerned about the metal piece in the center. I was thinking it might be the old buscher but i couldnt find a pic of the old one besides the one in the filter shootout thread and that one doesnt help me.

Agreed, go to autozone and check out the spectre filters. Looks very much the same. The K&N filters will have a metal screen not a plastic one. Also the oily cotton gauze would be fairly easy to recognize. There is a thread on here about the cheap ones coming apart and allowing stuff to go into the turbo.

if u go to Autozone and ask for a "bomz" cone filter , they will give u something very similiar. it should say Bomz on the stainless steel plate.

 

Dude....seriously? You've got the MAF and now this and you're gonna put it on your Evo? You shouldn't risk your engine for ~$25 in parts IMO....

 

thats why i asked before i put it on. I am going to scrap both parts.

 

Check our airfilter shootout for a proper replacement, that thing looks cheap & junky.

 

Thats a cheapo generic eBay filter. I wouldn't run it; a quality filter is worth the $40-50.
