With a stroker, I'd go with the longer gear.

Is "very short" a gear ratio?

I have thought about that, but i wanted to keep 5th gear a bit longer.
I tend to find myself cruzing at around 90mph a lot of the time when i go out of town.

4.11 final on a IX trans puts 70 mph @ 29K RPM. Good consideration when doing a stroker.

wouldn't throwing a 4.11 final drive slow you down in the quarter, as well as putting a longer 1st gear in?

Unless you are making a crap ton of power and having to shift to 5th, what's the point of extending the gears? That would just slow you down.

I'm interested in this stuff too for my evo 6 GSR , in Australia .
I don't know what CT9As get but the driving impression with my car is short close gearing 123 and larger gaps 3-4 and 4-5 .
I reckon the taller final drive would make all the overall ratios taller and fitting the 9s 1st and 5th probably makes for a similar 1-5 spread but a slightly larger gap 1-2 and maybe a smaller one 4-5 .

I find my car as it is a bit close 1-2 and 2-3 and a tad wide 3-4 and 4-5 .

Watching this space , cheers A .

A 2.4L turbo car loves to pull a taller gear.

I have a LR2.4 and I love my Ultimate Ratio Tranny

1st - IX
2nd - VIII
3rd - VIII
4th - VIII
5th VIII
FD - HKS 4.11

It is a badass setup. I will say on a hill with the Triple it makes is very very hard to take off with 1st gear being so tall. LMAO
