You don't have to replace the metal manifold to hotside gasket, just reuse the old one like I did. This includes the metal gasket between the hotside and O2 housing.

How much more are you expecting to gain going from an 8 to 9 turbo?

20-30 hp on the top end is pretty common. It holds more boost to redline.

Stock 8 return line works on the evo 9.
I wouldnt waste the money on another install kit. If I had to do it all over again I would just buy a new oil feed line , oil return line gaskets and a compressor pipe. Re-use everything else from the evo 8. The water lines can be bent and its not much bending at all. The feedline could probably be bent as well but i just wouldnt change getting a crimp in it.

Anyway good luck.

The 05 VIII 10.5 hotside and the IX 10.5 hotside are exactly the same... I learned that this weekend as the 9 turbo i purchased had a broken stud and a stripped hole... I just swapped my 05 VIII hotside to the 9 turbo of course after some port work

Also I did have to trim one of the rubber coolant hoses by about 1/2 inch to keep it from kinking...

I could have reused it cause it looked fine, I am just **** and don't like doing stuff twice if I can avoid it... especially taking apart the turbo section again because I skimped out on buying a gasket...

so are they the same turbo? if so i should be able to make ~360awhp with my setup and a new tune.. or so i have been told... i was also told that the 05 evo 8 turbo had the 9.8cm^2 nozzle and not the 10.5??

Re-read that, the 10.5 hotside is the same from 05-06. The IX or 06 turbo had a larger compressor. A IX turbo will make 10 or so hp more than a 05 with the 10.5 hotside. The IX turbo will make 20+ more hp over a 03-04 turbo with the 9.8 hotside.
