Man hate to hear that. Sounds like a nightmare. Also, sounds like you are not the only one that has experienced this issue.

I just finished doing my 60k mile tune up last week and when I removed the crank pulley everything was tight as it was suppose to be. I wonder why so many people are having this type of issue.

i believe with after market cams like the 280's or so there is an increased amount of vibration and that causes the bolts to either back out or shear off

Thanks everyone, I tried to drill the bolts out but screwed up and ended up breaking off one of the teeth on the harmonic balancer SOB. Heres a pic

Look how far the bolts are broken off... Now I HAVE to re do the timing belt yet again..

Man I feel lucky that mine only broke the key, which was like $2.00 from the dealer. I think the sprockets are only like $30 from the dealer.

I was reading that early signs of bolts backing out are occasional belt squeels and squeaks. Mine started to squeal but is more noticeable when its humid out. My question is, which bolts do i tighten after I take off the passenger side wheel to get a clear view in the tire weld. thanks for your help

We have high performance Fluidampr engine damper/crank pulleys in stock for Evo. Anyone who had snapped bolts off has likely damaged the stock one and needs to replace it.

I recommend replacing the crank sprocket as well. I didn't replace it when my pulley had the same issue, and now I attribute that to my premature oil pump failure.
